I'm confused, SoA or ToB game start

As the title says
if I want to do a full game can I pick ToB and still start from irenicus dungeon and do all of SoA, like BGEE was?

    No, ToB you import your SoA character into. It's not like tales of the sword coast was where it just added new areas. It's basically a separate game. So start with SoA, and when you beat it you will be able to import your character from the final save into ToB. Trust me, it's worth it if you've never played before. SoA was one of the best games in the series, personally my favorite.

    ToB start would be starting Throne of Bhaal wouldn't it?

    Just do SoA then you move onto ToB after via a save game import.

    If you want to do this chronologically; start with SoA, finish that, and I strongly suspect that you can export your character and use him/her in ToB.

    If you pick ToB you will miss all of the SoA content, and start with a high level character, playing only the expansion content.

    I'm pretty sure there's no need to export/import your save if you start at SoA. By the end of that the game automatically transitions to ToB.
