I like the new UI design & layout, that isn't a problem. My problem is that the UI in BGII: EE looks too clean, under details, pristine, smooth and worst of all, bright.

Is it at all possible to use the old visuals while retaining the new layout?

I also originally asked this in the International Baldur's Gate II: EE forum as there is no BG II: EE forum for us english speakers :/ but it seems a moderator straight up deleted my post? it would be dumb if these existing areas are to be used for BOTH BG EE and BGII EE as it will just makes it a confusing mess of topics on both games.

I can't speak to what happened to your post, but I know the BG2EE-specific forum thing has been brought up a couple times tonight in office communications (once by me, in response to another post.) Nobody who has the capability to add a new category (or possibly the technical know-how -- it's possible I have the power but I've no idea where to begin and I'm going to bed five minutes ago) is available at the moment, but I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a new category for BG2EE in the next 24 hours (honestly, I'll be pretty surprised if there isn't one in the next 12 hours, but everyone's beat, so I'm being conservative.)

No problem, get a good rest as tomorrow will be HELL once BGII: EE comes out :) (As I'm sure you already know and expect). Curious though, that you (Or someone else) moved my post here, in this unrelated thread though.

Heck i wouldn't call my request a bug report either, it really should belong in General Discussion (Until a new BGII forum emerges) or in Feature Requests where I originally made my post.

If you're referring to the original BG2 UI art I fear I have to agree with you. Whilst I appreciate everything that Beamdog has done, and put in to the game I just feel that the original BG2 UI art should not have been touched. The BG1 UI art was a little non-descript, and I wasn't too bothered to see a newer version done for that game, but in my opinion the original BG2 UI art was one of the most beautiful, and I really mean beautiful, UI arts I have ever seen. It was so intricately designed, and the colours was perfect - they couldn't have been improved upon.

I realise that when they were re-arranging all the UI around to try and make it HD and widescreen and so forth it made sense to re-design the UI art, and whilst it has tried to remain inkeeping with the BG2 aethetic, I just feel that it is too bold, and, like you have said, bright. It just feels like such a shame that the beautiful, elven, naturistic UI art from the original game will be lost to all the new people who are going to play the game now.

I learned what happened to my other thread. I didn't realize the international forum consisted of multiple sections each dedicated to a specific language. My thread simply got moved to one of those sections (Deutsch).

    Comparison pictures:

I'd like to repeat again that I like the new UI layout and think Beamdog's latest patch to the original Baldur's Gate did a great job with the interface. All I want is something similar to be available for BGII: EE where the original artwork is used instead of this HD stuff they're using (I'm okay with environment/gameplay stuff getting HD updates).

Edit: I'm aware it's likely too late to do anything about it before the game launches, it is something to think about doing after the game has been released, though.

Ask @geminibruni maybe he will do a "dirty" UI.
