Amazing, I enjoyed the hell out of that. The gear that you get along the way is awesome, the fights are awesome, love the characters. Love the "easter egg."
This completely escaped my mind! I loved The Black Pits. I pre-purchased BG2EE but due to still playing through BGEE haven't installed the game yet. The BP2 may just change that!
Anyone notice all the references in dialogue to other dialogue? Heh. BP2 seems kinda awesome actually and a lot more storyish than the first one; never played that one far so not sure. I actually want to play it, but now I feel I should finish the first one first.
BTW, to properly understand who the Mysterious Figure in the very last Black Pits 2 cutscene is, you need to play through Neera's quest in Throne of Bhaal.
@aVENGER: So you would, in essence, recommend the game itself first and Black Pits 2 after that? Is there other stuff that is more understandable if you've played BG2EE all the way through? (I don't want to know what, a simple yes or no will do just fine.)
@xzar_monty There are some other things from Neera's quest that are referenced in Black Pits 2 but nothing that is required for the main plot. Just small details that make the story more cohesive.
As for the last cutscene mentioned above, I actually think it makes more sense if you play through Black Pits 2 first and then go through Neera's Throne of Bhaal quest. You'll know why.
Ok, thanks for that. I think I'll play the "game itself" first and then delve into the Black Pits 2.
I know nothing about Black Pits at the moment, because I didn't even try BGEE - I'm very picky about games, and the original BG has too much aimless walking for my taste. BG2, however, is by far the best game of all time.
I just rolled the stats for my dual-class berserker/cleric, and the score was almost obscene. 18/90 strength, 8 intelligence and charisma, 18 dexterity, constitution and wisdom. This in about two minutes. Woohee. I feel like toning this down a bit by re-rolling... :-D
Black Pits 2 - well done, devs, well done . I assume the ending cutscene somehow is linked to the main game, yes? Also, I've a question - will there be a continuation of BP2 plot in..BP3 maybe? I wanna know what happens next to the BP characters.
There's going to be a future update to TBP2 to add a bit more stuff, something we dreamed up awhile ago and thought hardcore fans in need of a challenge would enjoy. Beyond that, we'll see what shakes out.
I'm currently in my second match on BP2, and wow. This is really good. Not saying BP1 was bad, but BP2 so is around 100% better. Really enjoying this so far!
My first play of BP2 was right after the release of Baldur's Gate 2, BP2 then got some nasty bugs (as the banter with the paladin that enter into a infinite circle and you can't stop the banter anymore). Dunno if that still perdures.
My only sadness was not being able to solo BP2 with anything other than a Kensai/Mage, anything else can't hold the later challenges.
I enjoyed Black Pits 2 up till the 2 liches that spam Imprisonment...
Though a general annoyance was that the AI seemed to distinctivly go after one mage... Kind of wanted attacks of opporturnity to be present when they ran past 3 people melee attacking them completely ignoring it and going after the mage who has yet to do anything in the fight and is invisible.

One of the reasons that Kensai/Mage is one of the only classes capable of solo the game. The final pit battle is ridiculous difficunt also.
Huh. I found the final battle rather easy (I didn't "deal with" any of them prior to the fight, I fought em all and nobody died) especially compared to the Ravager... that damn thing.
Ravager: "Absolute Immunity? lolz. Protection from normal weapons? rofl."

Finishing it with a Sorc on Core was easy enough.
Then explain how, cos the bhaalspawn you face is immune to timestop (if i remember correctly) and to a lot of other nasty spells, specially in ravager form.

Glad you found the battles enjoyable.
The ending had me laughing, was hilarious with him.

Also, great work! Those fights were tough and I enjoyed the story
