BG Video Scenes

Now That BG:EE and BG2:EE are out and the team has a bit more time i have a question: How much of you spread out in this forum would appreciate some video cutscenes for the events in the game? Gorion and Sarevok battle? An video cutscene of the final moments or for the entire fight would be awesome. Dorn's introduction killing the 3 bandits? Same. Every NPC joinable first banter with a video? Maybe too much but would be awesome. Romance scenes and top moments with an video? Would be awesome.

This probally wasn't made in the past in reason of tecnology limitations (besides final fantasy VIII in that time already do a lot of progress in this matter), but today... these videos can change totally the perspective of the game for better.

So i'm here today asking to you guys, should the devs go in this direction? Would you people support with money and Video Cutscene DLC. I know i would so let's see if we have numbers here to start the devs interests!! Only "yes with money" and "no" options as an option yes with no money would be utopian.

Not really a draw for me. If there was going to be DLC, I would prefer more black pits-like adventures or a seperate dungeon crawl with a new cast set somewhere in the sword coast. A watchers/durlags standalone sort of thing.

I personally think all of the things mentioned are fine as is. I always felt like the BG/IWD games were meant to simulate the feeling of actually playing Dungeons and Dragons, and I think having so many cutscenes take place in the middle of gameplay would really break immersion by being such a contrast to the normal gameplay. I personally feel the game is perfect with the amount of cutscenes it already has.

In addition to this, I was not a fan of the style used in the redone cutscenes in BG1:EE. If anything, I'd enjoy DLC that gave the option of using the original cutscenes.

No one liked much the cutscenes of BG:EE but they're not an project, just an accessory. Well it's a shame ppl think this way cos some actual games developed a good feeling with good cutscenes, as Morrigan's romance in DA:O the thousand cutscenes spread over mass effect serie...

I have the opposite feeling about this, well done cutscenes would improve the imersion. But for each one it's own choices i guess.

I am kinda torn on this... On the one hand, I don't feel it is necessary, on the other hand, it would be a nice feature to have. Like I don't play Starcraft 2, but I've watched the cinematics from the SC 2 campaigns cos it looks pretty awesome. (Actually Blizzard do make awesome trailers and cinematics in general, don't they?)

A problem I can see for doing this for BG is... We all have unique Charnames, with our mind's eye view of what they look like, how they talk, how they move, what they wear etc... I don't see how BG ingame cinematics can incorporate our Charnames into the movies, and everybody would be offended if they made generic cinematics with Abdel as the canon Charname.

That said, I guess Diablo 3 just resolved it by leaving the PC out of all cinematics... but again, in Diablo 3, your companions were pretty much thrust upon you, whereas in BG u can travel with all sorts of parties, or all by yourself... I think it would be awkward...

The cinematic movies can be done in frist person, as if you were seeing the world throught the protagonist eyes when he participate from the scene. Other scenes could be saw from a 3° person view and in the few moments the protagonist need to appear it could be from a far distance, or covered with a head to foot cap (as when you leave candlekeep with gorion) and stuff like this.

It's not an impossible feature as i see it being done pretty well in some nowday games.

Not only am I not interested, but I think cut scenes like these are against the whole Baldur's gate aesthetic and more in line with the new-school Bioware games...

Movies are an incredibly expensive addition, unfortunately -- it would be a very difficult proposition to fund, as DLC or otherwise.

You know the old BG had some movies on it do you? BG:EE has a bit few atm, being taken off from the game for some reason.

well you dont have to have a full CGI cutscene, what you do now is fine in my opinion, i liked the BG:EE intro remake and i nearly had a hyped up nerdgasm watching the intro to BG2:EE, more of them would be nice to see, but if its still too much then fine, what we have now is good anything more is just icing :D can never have too much icing
