Crash on importing from bgee, am i doing it wrong?

in BGII:EE Bugs (v1.2.2030)
so i have the steam bgee and the bg2ee right from beamdog. I choose one of the premade characters and saved and exported that character asap in order to have the right folders created. Then i copy and pasted "Final Save" from the same folder in bgee. It shows up in the load game screen just like it did in bgee but when i select it the game crashes.

Is there an import button somewhere? i hope im doing it wrong

    you shouldn't load BG1 save in BG2, they are not compatible. To import your character choose to create a new character, then use import and choose to import from a save.

    ok yeah i kinda figured it out shortly after posting. you need to load bgee, and selected export on that character. then copy and paste the two files from the CHARACTER folder into the new one in bg2ee.

    Your way should work too, it's the way I would recommend to avoid having incompatible saves in BG2 save folder.

    ok i have a question. the way i did it didnt preserve any of the stat or skills choices i made to immoen ( and i assume the rest of my party). does the "right way" import aspects of the rest of the party? i ask because i think "my way" preserves the voice style of my character that i cant find through the proper way.

    There is currently no way to import what you did to other characters

    oh...well thats kind of an immersion breaker. when did immoen learn magic lol.

    if anyone else wants to know how to transfer sound files its actually quite easy just search "import" and "voices"

    Ok, so i've tried copying both char files and save games to every conceivable folder related to BG2EE... When i try import from any char files or save games the import screen is just blank, as if nothin there....

    make sure to start a dummy(new) game in bg2ee so that you can export that character, which creates the proper folders for you to copy/paste your old character into. copying the save should have worked tho
