SQL Errors from Saves and Dialogues

I got the game installed. After I saved and quit, I can't start from a saved game without a crash and a dialogue about an SQL error. This also applies to BGEEI, though not when I load a save in The Black Pits.

I can still start a new game, importing the same character (the game did not automatically detect my BGEEI games), but now I get an SQL error dialogue during the opening talk with Imoen.

    Removing the custom portraits, including the overrides, does seem to allow me to load a save. But the first game used to work just fine with those portraits, and now it doesn't either.
