BG EE Beamdog import to BG 2 EE Steam

I have a question about importing characters from BG EE to BG2 EE. I bought the original EE on beamdog and completed it fully. Now I want to buy the new BG 2 EE but I want it on Steam, because it's cheaper. Is it possible to transfer my Beam dog BG EE character to steam BG2 EE or will I have to buy it on Beamdog to be able to play my old character?

    Cheaper already?

I would think u can do that though. The file is no different, maybe just a different location

Edit: if it is 10% off pre order I would say the patches coming sooner is worth 2.50

To answer your question the importing will work just fine.

I have BG EE for Beamdog and BG 2 EE for steam. Naturally I am unable to see any of my saved games or character files when I try to import to BG EE 2. $25 wasted.

Copy your BG1 final save into your BG2 save folder. Import.

Anyone have a tutorial on how to do that? It would be a big help.

@BTpat Shadowkeeper is pretty outdated. Use EE keeper instead.

Honestly this is ridiculous that it doesn't happen automatically. It's really not difficult to detect you have BGEE installed and check whether there's a final save.

Not a good first impression of BG2 "Enhanced" edition.
