how quickly can we expect patches?

there is some bugs that really need to be squashed before I should actually continue, such as the disappearing enemies among others. I was wondering if we should expect quick patches with a few things fixed or if we are going to have to wait for something bigger that will take more time. I want to wait for some things to be sorted out yet if it is going to take a long time I might just rather find temporary fixes or workarounds, like don't die or I need to reload and always save after an encounter.

Nov. 28: Release
Nov. 30: Patch 1
Dec. 4: Patch 2
Dec. 5: Patch 3
Dec. 7: Patch 4
Dec. 14: Patch 5
And so on.
ah thank you though. that is too bad then. I am still excited nonetheless about the work you all have done, but I am not interested in a beta testing experience. I may start a new BGEE character or continue with my latest Fallout NV run I was going to put on hold for this. I am on the forums regularly so I should notice when it comes out. Other than that the best I can do is save a lot and try to never reload. I have a tendency to reload just on an NPC death so I may take to more resurrecting, however I also read problems with harpers call and I believe Jaheira is going to be my divine caster. With all these new npcs I sure could use at least another 2 npc slots lol
So while I would hate to disagree with @shawne, I want to make sure that no one is getting expectations set based upon differences in situations.
If you look at the patches that were dropped for BG:EE in the early timeframes, they were mostly correcting CRITICAL issues...things that kept the game from being playable on MANY systems. And while someone might suggest that a quest person disappearing would keep the game from being playable, there is a difference between that and not even being able to load up the opening Screen because your graphics card isn't properly supported.
*I* Do not expect a first patch this weekend, I'd love to be wrong on that however. I agree it likely won't be long (I doubt we're talking months here and maybe not even weeks) but I don't think I'd get too excited about seeing a patch in the next couple days.
The best things anyone can do right now is when you find a bug, report it on a forum with a save if you can get it and reproducible steps with a clear tag in the title of the post identifying the bug you found so it can be caught and bug reported properly or correlated to an open bug that's already there.
What I WILL say definitively is to ignore those folks in these forums who will like to claim that things will NEVER get fixed or that it will take them months or years to make the game right or gee look at BG:EE it's still not done so have no faith in a working BGII Either!
The games are complex, there's a lot that can go wrong. Help the beta testers who are all here by posting the bugs you're finding in a recognizable way and the patches and the fixes and the updates WILL come.
If there's one thing that I figured by being on these boards for a few months before release of BG:EE, that I knew after reading the responses and apologies after the release of BG:EE, and that I came to be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN of after rolling on to the Beta testing team:
The folks writing and releasing this stuff and the volunteers testing it care just as much about these games as you do...if not a whole lot more. Anyone who tells you otherwise or even hints at it has NO idea what they're talking about and is...frankly...uninformed and just down right wrong.
loading causing helm of balduran bonuses to disappear, somebody mentioned a problem with a disappearing character in the graveyard district (don't remember who it was or how far back that post was pushed), harpers call does damage too early interrupting the spellcasting supposedly, though I haven't tested that either yet (just tested by killing and reviving yoshimo and jaheira was indeed interrupted), the encounters disappearing thing (they seem to not be random encounters. I always get attacked in the hallway just past the djinni with the button question), ui doesn't display readiness for hide in shadows. I would say the ui is the least of my worries as the others I listed effect the gameplay.
also here I will provide a save file after I got my helm of balduran in case it is my install
In the scheme of things, however, I'm glad that's one of the "worst" issues we're facing so far, heh. I appreciate that BGII:EE hasn't set anyone on fire yet!
I know the problem with the helm! on my save notice it happens for Brandon. Put the helm on Minsc and notice that it keeps the bonuses on him. it is a problem with fighter/thief then as thieves can't wear helmets normally, so somehow it is conflicting like that. I will edit my previous bug report on that issue
