PC version of Baldur's Gate II won't play

I downloaded and installed the game on my PC. When I start the game the screen goes into series of vertical and horizontal white lines with the character selection barely visible between the lines. Can't not get rid of the lines. Have to ctl-alt-delete to get out of the game. What happened?

    I'm having the exact same same problem. Has this been resolved?? I would like my money back if not. Game is unplayable.

    PS I've tried all the basic things like switching windowing and trying all compatibility options.

    If you're seeing this issue, it's likely because your graphics driver isn't up to date. Grab the latest version from the manufacturer (AMD, NVIDIA, Intel, or whoever built your computer) and install it, and that should fix the problem.
