13 hours and launcher keeps crashing

I missed the support area and made a thread in General a few hours ago. I'm trying to download BG2EE that I preordered, but the damn launcher keeps crashing. I've tried restarting (a lot), running as administrator, running in XP mode, and everything I've tried doesn't work. It crashes immediately, while checking files, before even downloading anything. I got lucky once, around 1pm est., and it downloaded about 1gb, but crashed after five to ten minutes. I expected a semi-slow download, but this is ridiculous. I have a decent computer and good connection. Any help is appreciated.

    Day two. I hoped getting up at 5am might help, but it's still crashing. I uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted computer (many more times) and it still crashes. I'm at a loss what to do. I'm getting zero support here. Should I just demand a refund and get from steam or torrent site?

    If you haven't done it already, Go to the Beamdog website, and click support located on the left-hand side of your screen. this will enable you to fill in a Support Ticket and @dee or someone else will look at your issue. Hopefully soon, although it is saturday :(.

    They will sort it out for you, have faith :)

    Thank you, 1765. I kept restarting the computer and was able to download bits at a time (around 7am est.). It took 15 to 20 times, but was finally able to get to Play! I've just worked my way out of Irenicus' dungeon and got a runtime error that crashed the game after the cut seen heh.

    Thats just bad luck man, mine is working fine if that's any consolation ;). Would def recommend filing a support ticket with your PC spec etc and see if you can get some sort of resolution.

    Well, against my better judgment, I ignored the voice in my head screaming: "DON'T DO IT!," and tried patching the update. Now the launcher is crashing again every time it checks the files before patching. I've tried restarting the computer multiple times. I've attached my dxdiag report. I've also sent Dee a copy with my ticket. *sigh* Why do I try doing these things on weekends? Again, any help is appreciated.

    To summarize: Locate the installation folder and delete the .beam and .status files, then try to patch.

    After restarting the computer many times, I was able to finally patch the update and play.

    While similar, it looks like my issue is different. It wasn't just freezing, but crashing shortly after checking files or downloading patch. It just took a moment to crash, so I wasn't having to use the taskbar or anything. I did try deleting the .beam and .status files, however (located c:games/baldur's gate ii enhanced edition/data), but then, rather than giving Play option, it tried checking files and immediately crashed again.

    I put the .beam and .status files back into the data folder and I'm able to play again. If the launcher isn't fixed, though, I'm sure I'll have the same issue with the next patch. Does anyone know if the Steam version uses the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Launcher? If it doesn't, I might just get the game through Steam and demand a refund from Beamdog, but I'd rather resolve it here and keep the money in their pocket.
