Dual f/t with 0 thaco possible?

I'm going to try a fighter dualled to shadowdancer (using the editor) and I'd like to have him be playable throughout. What I'm trying to figure out is how strong I can get him before he has to take over thieving when Imoen duals to mage....
Thoughts or suggestions

If you use EE keeper to make the dual class from the start of the game, like Imoen, you can play it throughout the game.

Oh, but you're talking about BG1, I think we do need separate BG1 and BG2 forums now because it gets confusing.

Not entirely sure what you mean, but you certainly can get 0 base THAC0 and still dual. Fighter level 21 is 3,250,000 exp, thief 22 is 2,640,000. Long wait. I would recommend a truncated party for a decent portion of the game to speed things along.

The thing about dual classing Imoen is that, after a point, more thief skill points become redundant (particularly if you ignore stealth and focus on traps and locks). You don't really need to replace her immediately, and you can find other thieves in BG2 until you finally dual and then become a decent enough thief.

This looks like something that should be a multiclass then, and not a dual class.

If it needs anymore than 13 fighter levels, you make a multiclass.

It should work, but keep a close eye on the starting boni on the kits. My F/A does a wonderful job of murdering those puny little magelings, but she did not get the usual +1 on dmg as described. If you start an Assassin the usual way, you will get that said bonus. AFAIK the shadowdancer doesn't have that kind of "on start of the kid you get..." affect, so it should work out fine. Instead of adding the missing boni, I choose not to add them, as penalty to rely on a tool instead of doing without.
Btw.: I seem to remember that you could choose to add a kit on importing into vanilly BG2. Someone tried to do just that to get their F/Kit? (yes, my BG2:EE is still loading :) )
