Character Buffing?

Does anyone else hate buffing their characters before most hard battles, save the exceptions being final bosses and such?

I mean that is what spell sequencers and stuff are for, right?

Spell sequencers can help save time, though you can also have them instead for offensive reasons.

Personally unless its a particularly difficult enemy I normally don't do much in the way of buffing beyond casting haste.

Yeah, it can be pretty annoying. But I kind of enjoy it before the epic fights. It's fun watching your character slowly fill up with icons and turn from a mild mannered adventurer into a superhuman avenger. It's like powering up and going super saiyan only instead of shouting there's latin chanting and gulping sounds.

I find you don't have to pre buff in the non modded game, and refraining from buffing makes it more interesting IMO. For example, the dread Kensage isn't so imba when it must cast selected buffs during battle instead of all buffs before battle.

If you don't feel a need to buff, maybe your game isn't challenging enough. I'd recommend getting SCS and/or turning up the difficulty. No more steamrolling!

The only things I do buff pre-anything are spells which lasts at least one hour. Anything else should be on demand, even though it just might kill you if you come unprepared. That, and saving only in save locations like an inn actually gives me a better gaming experience.
