Girdle of XX STR on kensai/mage?

Hey guys,
I am making a mage that I intend to dual-class to Kensai later. STR is an advantage for the Kensai, but not so much the mage aside from being able to carry more.
If I use a girdle to get STR, can I save points in STR when I create the character? Lets say 12 instead of the 18 I would otherwise get.
Hope you can help me out

Doesn't count for what jackjack?
Kensai first class, then dual to a mage at either 9 or 13 Kensai levels.
You NEVER dual class FROM a mage, rubbish HP and you spell casting will remain too weak.
The whole point of going Kensai > Mage is:
Fighter HP and Thaco
-2 AC, and you wont be wearing armour anyway
More attacks per round (1.5 if you dual at 9, 2 if you dual at 13)
Added bonuses - Grandmastery in a weapon of your choice (Quarterstaff, Katana or Scimitar are the most popular choices for certain magical weapons, plus max out your weapon choices style). Kai ability for a burst of max damage. Higher attack bonuses and kai also work with Melfs Minute Meteors, Energy Blades, and Polymorph / Shapeshift.
Your spell book should be crammed full with buffs, melfs meteors, energy blades, improved haste, polymorph, shapeshift, and you just destroy everything while being almost invincible.
