Off center graphics

Is it just me of when I open up BG2EE or BGEE the screen is pushed to the lower right and off the screen. Surely this has to be a well reported incident? More than a third of the screen is gone.

I tried to take a screenshot but the screenshot looked normal, so I photoshopped it to look like how it actually looks on my screen. I can't see the menu stuff at the bottom.

something like this:

    Heya!

I had the exact same problem, I guess you're running 1440p...it's because win 8.1 handles high res scaling differently. (I have to get this right from memory, currently not at my home pc) Rightclick on your BG2 desktop Icon and choose compatibility settings. Click "application is not shown properly"...then let the game run and it should show correctly. Close the game and click through the menu on the desktop (it will ask to keep the new setting).

Worked for me, for both BG ee and BG2 ee!

since you say the screenshot came out correctly, that sounds like your monitor needs to be reset or something.

    Hi,

I bump this because i've got a very similar problem (maybe for the same reason) and I know the reason :
In windows 7 display settings, there is an option to make the text larger (I use this because I am at TV distance of my computer screen, which is actually a TV screen).

This has a tendency to mess with display for a few games, zooming the game just like windows zooms the text, resulting in your "pushed screen".

This is, however a bug. BG:EE didn't have this bug, so I guess it's possible to correct it in BG2:EE. Having to change windows settings and logout each time I want to play or stop playing is tiresome (though in now way game-beaking).

    Hope this helps.

Windows 8.1 and possibly other version of windows have a problem of display games properly because they enable DPI scaling for some bizarre reason.

As poster said above, right click the executable, check compatability settings, and make sure nothing weird with resolution or DPI is enabled.

That's what I thought, however, I have my laptop plugged into an external monitor and both displays are showing the same thing (the view is mirrored on each).

    Ok I'll try this.

    @Dee ?

Does the problem persist if you set the screen to Extend to the TV monitor, instead of mirroring it?

If you shut down the computer, disconnect all external displays, boot up and then launch the game, how is it displayed then?

Also, if you Alt-Enter (to switch to windowed mode), is the menu screen displayed incorrectly within the window? If you Alt-Enter again (to switch back to fullscreen), is the display still incorrect?

It's my "docking station". Normally I leave laptop screen off and just use LCD but wanted to show it was not LCD.

I go to windowed and it is fine, fullscreen then it was off again. I've been fine with BGEE and BG2EE betas and never had this?

@Dee I disabled one of the displays and it works?? lol whut? Mirrored doesn't work.

That's rather telling, actually. What's the resolution for your TV, and the maximum resolution for your laptop monitor?

They are mirrored at full HD 1920x1080 which is max resolution for each @Dee edit: The font appears to change thou when I turn off mirroring. Is there something with fonts going on?

I had the exact same problem with BG:EE.
Right click on BG:EE icon and check the "disable display scaling on high DPI settings"

    Look at attached image...
