Can Imoen be imported?

I wonder, if in BGII: Enchanced, can Imoen be imported from your BGI: Enhanced save? (and perhaps also other party members that carry over?) So she doesn't start as a crappy dual-class?

    Excuse me, crappy?

Nope. You're stuck with crappy dual-classed Imoen.

If you think a thief / mage is crappy, you must be new to the game.

Easiest class to solo the unmodded game with, second easiest if you cheat and disable all the traps and locks.

Yeah, I find her crappy (I would rather have a great thief then a cappy thief+mediocre mage) and would like to pick her path myself. Any chance this will be fixed in a patch Beamdog?

well, if she stays a pure thief, that would kind of derail the story, as the whole first 2/3 of SoA, is you trying to save her from the Cowled Wizards, due to her magical outburst at the promenade....

Since it isn't actually broken as per the common definition of the word, it won't be fixed either. As mentioned above by StoneSwords, for story reasons she has to have a spell casting ability when first entering Waukeen's Promenade in order to be arrested. Granted she could've just blasted the baddie with a wand, but wands doesn't receive the attention of the Cowled Wizards apparently.

A compromise that might have worked though would've been to have her start as a level 1 Thief with the appropriate amount of xp to match the protagonist so we could choose how to spend her Thief levels and then force a Mage level upon her right before leaving the dungeon... though that might be a lot harder than it sounds for all I know.

It can't be fixed because it isn't broken. Imoen is supposed to be a thief->mage. She always supposed to be a thief->mage. If you really don't like that, you can use EE keeper to just change her class to a pure thief, but then most of the game won't make sense, because again, Imoen is SUPPOSED to be a thief->mage.

Nah that's easily fixed, just give her some Bhaalspawn abilities instead, I even think it would fit her better. But I guess its using editors for me. I guess my view is that now that we can integrate the 2 games more we should do that fully, and have NPCs in the second start out as they ended the first.

I kinda wish BG EE and BG 2 EE would be better integrated too, but Dual-Class Imoen is NOT crappy in the slightest! She covers your Trap Finding needs and Door/Chest Unlocking needs, AND she is the best Arcane caster available for Good parties until Neera joined the party.

I don't understand why anyone would want a very high level specialist Thief from a powergaming perspective. Even in terms of Stealth, for which Imoen is admittedly quite bad with, is easily mitigated with Invisibility spells.

I think it is more that I want it to be my choice what she is, it is a character I have had with me and controlled from level 1.

Its part of the story, but I would ha e preferred her to be more like CN where she gains special abilities regardless of class. Its part of the original game, life goes on.

Lets see, 9 str, 18 dex, 17 int.

And you want to keep her pure for what? To use a shortbow with only 1 point all the way up to ToB?

If she had high str then it would make sense, but with her stats she is perfect for the thief / mage dual class.

What do you expect to use a stronger thief for? She can already get every trap and lock in the game, there's very little need to have more than that, keeping her pure would actually weaken your party.

Maybe EE keeper her and max her thief skills would solve your problem

But you don't control her between the events of bg1 and bg2. It however doesn't explain her being lvl 7 when dualed.

I think there is a mod that does that... BGT does, and I thought another one, where Imoen becomes a custom Swashbuckler or Adventurer class. So probably a poke at some mods and ask for a simplified version of the code, and you could just pop Imoen BG:EE into Imoen BGII:EE. I think the BGT version uses either the "thief casts from scroll" trick or gives Imoen
a custom bhaalspawn ability that casts magic missile
, but [disclaimer] don't quote me on that, as I have not had my morning coffee, have not payed either mod for over a year and a half, and may be remembering the contents of a particularly vivid dream rathetr than the crude shallow grey of reality.

In the original game it made some sense, if you played totsc, since you only had edwin or or what's her name as a mage; but now it makes no sense you have 2 of 3 possible mages, 4 if you're one. Best to keep her as thief.

Is it possible to use shadowkeeper to make her multiclass instead of dual? Honestly though she pretty much has no trouble if you make sure to give her all the thief ability enhancing items. And you can always take Hexxat or Jan if you want a thief who can level. I'd love to keep Yoshimo if I'm honest though that is more because he is one of my favorite characters, but then again so is Imoen. You could always use shadowkeeper to make her a pure thief with magic missile innate if you want, though you would probably have to do this twice since she is technically different when she first joins and when she is rescued. I believe there is actually a mod that gives her a unique thief class with minor casting abilities but I do not know if it is compatible with EE and I'm not even sure which mod it is anymore.

There was/is a mod called the never ending journey in which it allows your bg2 characters to go do the slightly alterrated Icewind dale story and bundled up in the mod was a 'charming rogue' class for Imoen in which she had certain innate spell abilities that would possibly help out a thief. I found it to be a really horrible class.

Too bad they didn't keep the option to dual class her (or anyone else for that matter) into a specialist mage. EE Keeper to the rescue!
