Bugs I've Noticed So Far

I've only finished Irenicus's dungeon but I noticed quite a few bugs already

Bug: Under the assign key section of the menu, journal is listed twice, once as 'm' and once as 'j'...pressing 'm' goes to the map screen, not the journal

Expected Behavior: The journal that is listed as 'm' should be changed to map

Bug: Under the assign key section of the menu there is no option to assign a key for 'select all', however, if you change the quick select key for your npcs in the 4 5 6 slot, it works as 'select all'...for some reason

Expected Behavior: There should be an option for 'select all' and quick select for 4 5 6 slots should work as it is supposed to

Bug: Importing a character from BGEE that has a custom portrait that isn't in the portrait folder for BGIIEE results in a black portrait instead of a default portrait

Expected Behavior: Importing a character with a custom portrait that isn't in the BGIIEE folder should default the portrait back to...well...anything that isn't a black window

Bug: Killing a character by turning them to stone results in no XP for the kill

Expected Behavior: XP should be rewarded for defeating enemies, even if you stone them

Bug: Jaheira had all her memorized level 1 spells wiped out. Unfortunately I don't know exactly when it happened, but when I went to cast an entangle, all her spells were gone (not used and uncastable but not even memorized anymore)

Expected Behavior: Memorized spells should only be wiped out when you've been level drained and then had your level restored

Bug: When a character goes into a dialogue that has actual voice acted lines, before they start to speak they say their selected line (as if you just clicked on them), which interrupts the first part of what they are saying in their dialogue

Expected Behavior: When a character is about to speak, don't play their line as if they were just clicked

Bug: After loading a game, the ambient volume is reset to maximum even if you've turned it all the way down

Expected Behavior: Sound level selections should be remembered

Bug: When you go into a sub menu of your menu (like selecting a special ability or selecting a spell to cast) there is no way to go back. You used to be able to just click on a blank section of the bar and that would take you back to the main menu bar...I feel like I didn't explain this very well

Expected Behavior: Clicking a blank section of the menu bar should take you back to the main menu bar

Bug: On the menu bar, buttons like 'cast spell' 'special abilities' 'stealth' are all the same color of grey, regardless if you are able to actually select them or not

Expected Behavior: Buttons for things that you can't use should be a darker shade of grey

Not really bugs but observations - The numbers on stackable items are waaaaaay too small and hard to read, they need to be embiggened. The GUI just doesn't look good. I'm sure this will get better with time.

I know there were more bugs than I'm listing but this is all I can remember right now (I should have written them down as I was playing) I'm not complaining at all here, I love this game and there are a lot of great things that you've added to it. I'm just trying to help with the bug hunt.

Have you tried attacking their stone form (to shatter the "statue")? Because, until then, they're technically still alive - they can be brought back with Stone to Flesh.

As reported in another thread, this seems to happen at level up.

Wow, can anyone confirm this (not playing BG2EE yet myself)? Does this happen at the start of ALL voiced dialogues? If so, this seems like a major bug which shouldn't have survived beta-testing.

IIRC, I'm pretty sure it worked this way in vanilla BG2. It was an old hardcoded limitation: Any character turned to stone wouldn't give any xp when chunked and all of its items would be destroyed. Stoning the PC's love interest would also break all romances even if you restored them (no idea if that's fixed or not). This is why I never bothered to use stone spells and almost no enemies used them on me anyway.

Yeah, I saw it happen to Imoen in Irenicus's Dungeon. It overlaps with whatever current voiced dialog they start speaking. I think it only happens to party NPCs though.

And "beta testing"? LOL. You give these characters way too much credit. I wouldn't call this a final release by any stretch. More like they rushed through the alpha and slapped together the high-quality resources that were pre-made by real programmers 15 years ago. And now we're actually the ones beta testing for them.
