Baeloth?

Hi,

So I just wandered into this guy and was wondering who he is and when he entered the game? He didn't appear on any of the websites I had looked at for companions, even the ones that showed the 3 new ones. I'm planning on binning Edwin for him.

Cheers

He was an easter egg a few patches ago :-)

he's an easter egg character from the Black Pits. He isn't a "real" companion as he lacks banters and quest(s) and you can't get him until you're like level 5. But he's playable for the rest of the game, and you can certainly scrap edwin for him.

if you play the Black Pits you can see even more of his outrageously flamboyant personality.

It should be noted that several players have stated on the forums that they feel like bringing Baeloth along ruins parts of the game, as his excessive spells repertoire often kills the challenge of high level encounters.

Ah thanks, yeah I'm actually at Sarevok but wanted to clear everything else first and just randomly walked into this guy (well the place he teleports into). Seems like he's got a shed load of spells at the ready. I prefer sorcerers anyways.

All I can say is... you might want to check out Black Pits 2.

Would very much love to see him return in BG2:EE. I disagree that he's considered just an easter egg with no banters. None of the characters really had much in the way of banters. I mean, Imoen who is an important character doesn't have any (although she was a late addition)

Imoen was an afterthought and not at all important in BG1 :P

@Fornost Edwin or Jan would be your answer. Jan is some type of neutral, able to get along well in an evil party, and still a very decent mage (and excellent thief). Where as Edwin is just a straight up powerhouse mage. Evoker, so his damage spells pack an extra oomph. Good all around, and both have excellent banters so pick on personal choice!

Edwin is a conjurer. You also don't get any more damage from casting evocation spells as an evoker compared to any other mage.

Well, not sure about BG2 at all, but wasn't there a spellbook in the AD&D universe where you get improved versions of a selected few spells, like an improved shield spell for a conjurer and such. Not sure where I did see that...
