Need some advice on what to create

For two days BGII has been out and I haven't tried it yet, why? because all my BG saves were gone and I feel that creating a new character to import is a must. But I have a problem and that is what class to pick :/

I am so stubborn and have problems to change my gameplay that for years I played good aligned mage and always with the same party which consisted of Keldorn, Anomen, Aerie, Minsc and Yosh/Valyg and later in game Sarevok who is a must have npc for me. Until two years ago I created a evil elf sorcerer along with Viconia, Korgan, Edwin, Jan and later Sarevok. I underestimated the power of sorcerer and evil parties!!

So now I want to play both games with all the new characters but I can't decide what to create. My experience of monks and wild mages is quite limited so I wonder if Rashaad and Neera will be strong enough to keep in the party through BGII.

Should I create an

- Evil human cleric/priest of Talos and skip Viconia
- Evil elf assassin or shadowdancer to try those backstabs
- Support druid maybe skipping Viconia
- Maybe try wild mage to have even more raw magic power in the group(or just a higher chance to kill ourselves)
- Another melee, Blackguard/Blade/Barbarian/Defender but I am planing to have Sarevok to join me later

Lets see; Hexxat, Rasaad, Neera, Dorn, and Sarevok in your party?

I'd say go with Priest of Talos.

Now if you aren't planning on taking Hexxat then I guess thats different, but otherwise having a cleric would be good.

    Thanks!

My first time ever as a cleric but I will give it a go and hopefully Rashaad and Neera won't suck since it will be a 5 man party through SoA

An alternative is to go with a Priest of Lathander. You will be at least capable as a fighter with enough buffs and there really isn't anything stopping you from being it.

Hmm true.. the buffs received are nice indeed but that requires me to be good and if my rep goes down, won't that affect me like it affects paladins? If not then I might go Lathander
