Dual Class Question

I am starting a Swashbuckler that I plan on taking in to BG2EE and dualing to mage.
As a swashbuckler, if I want to get three points in dual wielding and specialize in a weapon I would have to wait till level 12 at least.
My question though is this;
If I dual at 10 instead, with 2 points in a weapon, and 2 points in dual wield, then as a level 12 mage could I put a third point into dual wield?
If not I may just end up waiting till 15 to dualclass and get the extra AC and hit bonus...
Thanks!

Keep in mind though that some restrictions are also combined. A dual-class with a cleric in there, for example, will never be able to use sharp weapons even if the other class can use them. Similarly, a Kensai can never use missile weapons, and iirc the druid weapon restrictions also remain intact. That's about all, though.
I plan to dual my fighter -> cleric at level 13. Is it possible to save all my proficiency points gained from advancing as cleric until I reach lvl 14 and then spend all points at once?
I asked because otherwise I could only spend 1 point in a second weapon.
I just realized, that you get two proficiency points at lvl 1 cleric, so I would have to split them up. Am I correct?
( Planned to do the following: with lvl 13 fighter: 8 points available, 3 to two-weapon style, 5 to a blunt weapon. Then dualclassing to cleric, saving all points until lvl 14, means 5 points available, spending those to be grandmaster in a second blunt weapon. )
