During the fight of these two, Gorion sometimes dies not after the attack of Armored Figure, just during the fight. I think it would be better if he'd fall on the ground AFTER his strike
I'd like to add that the fight could be a little more 'epic', in the sense that Gorion should a few stronger spells. Pretty sure he didn't Acid Arrow that dragon to death.
The way it works is the entire fight is on a timer and once the timer is up he dies. But I agree that it would be nice if he were to die in a more appropriate way.
well since armored figure has crap loads of HP and gorion has no chance in killing him, why not just make it so gorion cant die before he finishes his spell casting, and when gorion is done, make it that gorion can die from the next hit ( so for example, give gorion 100 hp or so, and if sarevok would do that much damage before gorion is done spell casting keep him alive untill spell casting is done, and then after he finishes spell casting next hit kills him) it would also be kind of neat if a stoneskin/mirror image/ globe of invulnerability or so - for cool looks- to make the battle look a little bit more interesting, contengency anyone?
What's Gorion level? 20? 25? Why just not copy a mage fight of BG2 in this level and simulate it there?, cos he don't even use a stoneskin, protection from magic weapons... no contingency or spell sequence... that was sad.

For me, it was every time.

It seems to be a fairly reoccuring theme that a lot of the game content has 'workarounds' for engine limitations... instead of just coding a new engine feature (in this case, rolling guarranteed success on a hit for the scripted sequence).
I'd also recommend having gorion shout during the battle "by the power of greyskull! I have the power!" then casting his high level spells. That would be epic.
I think it was Trent who comment on this before. He said during development, Gorion would win this battle and the end credits would play. That would probably explain why he uses lower level spells
No way to Gorion Win the battle, cos Sarevok is a plot kill, his ammount of HP is infinite, i get to know this in the hard way, in my last BG end i fucked the battle by hitting an "emotion spell" on sarevok, so the death script get screwed and he become immortal.
actually armoured figure only has like 500-600 HP you can summon him in and kill him, he has fullplate+1 and gives you 15 000 xp, and he doesnt fight back, neat
As far as I know, you need to pay to stay in Candlekeep. And Gorion was there for 20 years or so, right? I wouldn't be surprised that he basically paid his stay with his strongest spells from his spellbook. I might be wrong on the dynamics of Candlekeep though (I probably am). Then again it would be kinda silly to see Gorion go all like "Time's up fool, let us go with some Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wiltings!" on poor Sarevok XD
But don't hold me responsible for anything incorrect I say. If people are able to kill mr. Firky by just using magic missiles, lower resists and vampiric touches, then I don't see why Gorion wouldn't have done the same with some Acid arrows and lightning bolts :P
So just make a new armored_figure.cha or whatever is the name of sarevok frist apperance archive, and edit it to be immortal. That would solve the problem.

well i also bet at the time the programmers didnt know about abi-dalzims horrid wilting and all that fun jazz, so of coarse gorion couldnt use anything cooooooool, infact speaking of cool, he should have at least used cone of cold, i dont know a single enemy in the whole game that uses that spell, or any mage period for that matter, in dradeel on werewolf island uses ice storm i believe
@sarevok57 : I feel like there is none that uses it, but I am pretty sure that Davaeron has a few ready to cast (3 or so. Just charm him with Algernon's cloak and you'll see!). Maybe BioWare didn't make a script to cast that spell simply because it's so powerful? I mean, a wand use can kill quite the powerful men and women alike on the game, so maybe that's one reason.
Hopefully we'll see its anticipated return in EE though
@Cheesebelly yeah the only level 5 spell that i ever saw Davaeron use was summon monster III but i will definately have to try charming him next time i want to see those cone of colds

I believe I read somewhere that Gorion was only level 10. Which is pretty epic for BGI but not so much for BGII.
So he don't even have a level 9 arcane spell pool? Damn, we kill a lot of mages that cast level 9 spells on BG2, and a proeminent figure as Gorion can't cast them?
@kamuizin - Ye, because in BG2, especially ToB you are supposed to be the elite, the best of the best über epic and thus you also fight against people in that power level (otherwise it would be as challenging as smashing ants). As you can see from BG1, you can accomplish stuff and become a prominent hero or adventurer without even exceeding level 10~

He prolly can, remember that they're running away at night. Perhaps Gorion had no time to memorise any more of his intricate spells before he left. If he could have, he and Elminster would've waltzed straight out of the front gate at mid day and toasted anyone who got in their way. That and from a purely story point of view the farther figure had to die at the hands of the bad guy, that's revenge story 101
