Rasaad's Quest (possible problem)[spoilers]

I believe I've hit a dead end in Rasaad's quest. After the battle with the Dark Moon Monks sendt by Alorgoth at the heretic temple I received the quest experience for it and Viconia made a comment, but nothing else happened. Rasaad didn't say anything, there was no journal update and there was one left alive to talk to outside, and those inside had nothing in particular to say.

Should I have made sure the Master of Arms survived? There are quests left uncompleted related to Rasaad, but the journal doesn't show the quest under completed quests either. I expected Rasaad would say something if the quest was complete.

Has this happened to anyone else? What was supposed to have happened there?

I'm having the exact same issue, and I'm not sure if it's a bug or if I'm just missing something. I can tell you that ensuring the Master of Arms survives doesn't make a difference; he survived in my game but he doesn't have anything useful to say afterwards.

Same position here. Fought off the Dark Moon Monks at the temple, but nothing has happened after that.

Unless I missed something, that's it until ToB.

I resurrected Rasaad because he died in the battle.. the moment he was alive again he said the same thing he did as when we first entered the area.

    Spoilers:
Rasaad also died in my fight with them (friendly fire from them damm monks, I try to help), but I res him fast with my rod. The Master of Arms survived in my game and come with 1 comment after the fight. and after that comment I got a talk with Rasaad about he was sad that Alorgoth got away. But I have not got a new quest to find Alorgoth.

From what I can tell that scene was apparently the end of Rasaad's quest line in SoA, and it did continue for me in ToB regardless of the bugged ending to this one. You'll just have to wait for the conclusion in ToB.

This is a rather ugly and quite difficult to reproduce (I wasn't able to) case. As far as I can tell, it may happen if some of the assaulting Sharrans remained alive. Which is not supposed to happen, because even if somebody had run away, they are scripted to return to the temple gate exactly to prevent the issue described.

@Sceptenar @jpayette @jhneoh and anyone else having this issue - please upload a save made after defeating Sharrans. Any save will do, as long as it was made after encountering the bug, but if you have one made immediately after the battle, then it's better.

As a workaround, you can enter C:SetGlobal("ohr_sharrans_dead","oh4100",1) while in the outside temple area, it will mark the Sharran force as defeated.

    @Ardanis
That workaround you provided returns "lua: call expression not a function" and nothing happens.

I've attached a savegame after the bug appeared, I didn't have a save from right after the battle, but I did have one right at the end of the chapter.

Damn, that was a typo... should be C:SetGlobal("ohr_sharrans_dead","oh4100",1) , not C:SetSetGlobal("ohr_sharrans_dead","oh4100",1)

Yep, no error message this time, but nothing happens. Maybe the savegame will tell you more about what went wrong...

The save game actually indicates there *was* a post-battle talk. I.e. the plot variable is set accordingly, and it only sets in dialog.

Okay, here's how things are supposed to happen:

If Master of Combat has survived the battle, he addresses the player with "We are triumphant!"
If he has died, one of the heretics tells you "The Twofold Trust has prevailed! The goddess smiles twice upon us!"

If Rasaad is alive and in party, he continues from there with "No! Alorgoth yet lives!"
If Rasaad was dead by the end of battle, the conversation ends.

The latter is logged as an issue 7174

Hmm, that conversation never took place. My entire team, including Rasaad, was alive at the end of the battle, but no one else was. Like I wrote in the OP, Viconia did make a comment and I received the quest XP, but nothing else happened. So it seemed to me that the quest had dead-ended.

Okay... Viconia's comment, as well as the XP reward, are only triggered after a heretic congratulates the party. I assume you may not have noticed their comment, because it's just not possible otherwise.

As for Rasaad not saying a word, he may have been silenced or stunned or otherwise considered as not available for dialog. That can be fixed.

It's possible I missed a heretic comment, it was really the fact that there were no journal updates or any comment from Rasaad that made it look like it had bugged out.

Does doing this quest affect Viconia's romance? She said she was surely damned. Should I reload?

I was concerned about that too, Viconia seemed pretty angry about pretty much everything that occurred. Her next romance dialogue occurred a few minutes later so it doesn't look like it broke anything, although I'm still wondering if it affects her story somehow down the line.

Does anyone know if it affected anything, or was it just some throwaway flavor text?

from what i heard, you can play with Rasaad and Viconia in SoA with freedom, but they fight each other in ToB, didn't experienced this in my games, so i don't know if it's true or not

The entry in the Journal about Rasaad's Request completely disappears from the Journal.

    Is this normal?
  • iavasechuiiavasechui Member Posts: 274
But will they still fight if you successfully changed her alignment? Or only if she is still evil?
  • TwaniTwani Member Posts: 640
In ToB, what happens is during a certain part of Rasaad's quest you go directly against more Sharrans, and Viconia leaves the party. They don't fight; she just takes off. I believe she does it even if neutral, as she still worships Shar.

I somehow missed that Sharrans worship Shar XD I haven't actually used Rasaad yet and all I know about is quest is what I read here. For some reason I just assumed they were from a country called Shara or something.

So she will still leave if you are romancing her? That would suck, though I'd assume if you are romancing someone you would plan your party around him or her and not take say Keldorn or Rasaad along if you are planning on romancing Viconia. Heck I plan my pc's class around which npc I'm planning on romancing in a given playthrough XD

An easy workaround for Viconia during the ToB segment is just to leave her behind in the pocket plane when you do the last part of Rasaad's quest. You solve the quest, and Viconia is none the wiser, and the romance can continue uninterrupted afterwards.
  • iavasechuiiavasechui Member Posts: 274
Doesn't taking her out of the party end the romance anyways? Or did they change that to avoid the petrification/imprison auto end romance annoyance thing.
  • SceptenarSceptenar Member Posts: 606
It worked just fine for me.

The problem I'm having is that viconia leaves the party in the temple after the reputation increase, even if I use slayer form to lower it, which completely ruins my romance with her, as I am to understand her leaving during the SoA portion negates any romance progress you had. Is there a shadowkeeper fix for this or do I just have to not finish that part of the quest?
  • TwaniTwani Member Posts: 640
Viconia will always leave during Rasaad's quest in ToB. You can get around that by dismissing her and then regrabbing her as soon as the quest is done.l As far as I know, she shouldn't leave during Rasaad's SOA quest, so that seems weird to me. Maybe I'm missing something.

Hello everyone, sorry to dig a long dead topic, but I was struck with inability to finish Rasaad quest in SoA properly: after battle he says nothing and stays in the party.
The only case he can speak and leave party is when Global("OHR_RASAAD_TFT","GLOBAL",3). Simultaneously, this value prevents him to leave a party... The only place where this variable gets value 3 is a dialog with Master of Combat which ends in selection of option when party tries to escape from the Sharrans assault and must fight temple heretics...
so, this is the dead end: the Rasaad must be able to talk to protagonist when Global("OHR_RASAAD_TFT","GLOBAL",2), not only 3 (BCS and DLG shall be amended this way).
    PS: game version 2.3.67.2
