Mazzy and Hexxat (spoilers)

This just happened to a friend of mine, but I could potentially end up with the same thing happening, so: If you have these two together, will Mazzy eventually leave? Apparently she bolted his group with no warning, which is frustrating given that Aerie at least gives you a chance to kick Korgan before she leaves herself. But he reloaded and the conversation between them didn't happen again, so he's not sure if he missed a chance to talk Mazzy into sticking around.

And yes, I realize that given how Mazzy reacts to the idea of working with Bodhi, it shouldn't come as a shock if she doesn't want to party with Hexxat. It's more the lack of warning that bothers me and that I want to confirm is supposed to happen before I decide whether to play keep-reloading-to-keep-her or very sadly let her go and find a replacement.

You'll eventually have to pick between them, but there are two outcomes to that event:
    1. Mazzy and Hexxat fight to the death.
    2. Mazzy is talked into leaving peacefully (requires 17+ Cha).

You can pick a side if they fight...

It's great that they added the +Charisma better outcome. BG really needed more stuff to reward having superb charisma (natural or magically-enhanced), and little RP opportunities like that are great.

There seems to be a bug with this. When Hexxat "dies" she turns into cloud, becomes unkillable, and continues to attack Mazzy.

that's sucks. Just discovered it right now :/ There's really no dialog line to solve peacefully this conflict ? I wanted a cool and sexy full girl team and there's only mazzy as female warrior in bg2. :(

@Joker: Uh, Jaheira's got Fighter levels too. Not for nothing, but if your female PC is a warrior type you can have a pretty balanced party with Mazzy, Aerie, Nalia/Imoen, Neera and Jaheira.

Did she rejoin... just like that? No quarrel with Hexxat? Didn't she even make a comment or something?

Yeah, I think we need clarification. Mazzy left after telling you she wouldn't be in a party with Hexxat? Where they almost fought to the death?

This scenario happened to me after a week or two of them being together so I reloaded to see if it could be avoided. Nothing happened for another week or two (hard to say exactly how many days) and now the dialogue can't be skipped by loading, it happens every time. The thief is pretty useful but I love Mazzy's righteousness, so I let her smash Hexxat with ease.

@Loremaster @SpiffyMcBang I can answer for wren84 I think, because I did the same thing (and talked about it in some topics about modding character restrictions away). It seems that after party conflict with new NPCs is resolved peacfully (by someone leaving the party) the game stops caring about it. When Mazzy leaves you can go immediately to her home in Tradesmeet and recuit her again with no fuss. She will have no more dialogue with Hexxat but otherwise will be fine (my Mazzy Friendship mod dialogues for example kept firing like they should). While I didn't check it myself there was a report in the modding section that the same is true for Keldorn.

I realize I'm two years late to this thread, but I thought I'd comment anyway. I added Hexxat to a mixed (good and evil) party after Minsc bugged out (his exclamations became non-stop and interrupted the game play). Her quests were a little heavy on the tomb-raider side, but I enjoyed her banters and the mage-fight in the Unproven tomb. I'm using a male PC who is tied up with Jaheira, so romance is not possible. The party had already survived a Keldorn/Viconia throwdown, using the Maze tactic I picked up in another forum, and sidestepped a fit from Keldorn about Hexxat by dismissing her and then asking her to rejoin. (I think Keldorn was upset that she ate Bernard.) In Demin's house in Suldanessellar, Keldorn tossed another fit, and I inadvertently let them fight. Hexxat disappeared, then almost instantaneously back-stabbed Keldorn, and disappeared again. By the time Keldorn cast True Sight, she had left the room! Since Hexxat was not in sight, Keldorn rejoined the party. The PC went outside alone, found Hexxat on the top of the staircase, and got her to rejoin. She then chastised him for allowing the bloodshed. She has had interesting dialogues with Imoen (early on) and Jaheira while the rest of the party was fighting Golems.

So I think that Hexxat is a worthwhile companion: I like thieves, although I understand they are limited, and I enjoy her banter and interactions. With spell preparation (and restarts), I'm willing to carry on with the mixed party. I'm just sorry she's not bisexual as that would add another element.

Also you need a 17+ reputation to have the flexibility to respond to throw-downs.

The thing with conflicts between npcs that force you to choose between one or the other happens with all, I think. At least with the ones that have problems with Hexxat, because I once let her in while Anomen was in the party as well, and chose him when he forced me, but then I recruited Hexxat again, and he said nothing about her being in the party. At least not until he forced me again to choose between them because Hexxat was starting to gain interest in my female protagonist, but nothing else xD at least I think the devs know it's possible to have them in the same party without further conflicts, otherwise he wouldn't say a thing about her romancing CHARNAME. Same with Dorn, actually.

You know, this kind of thing is what makes BG magical.

The NPCs are alive. They have their own tastes and goals and strengths and weaknesses.

Cheesing this, IMHO, is to diminish the most wonderful thing about this game.
