@Cuv, well as i said in the past, the moment i'm able to use BG1 animations OR see new sprites in the game for us, i will send videos of anime girls in cute mode across the forum ;P
Double it if both happen eventually.
Seriously now, it's good to know that it might actually work, although i'm a bit afraid that the code needed will be a hindrance, now big or little, that i don't know.
I would also like to see new sprites obviously, P.Daigle said they might do it, if they find a cost-effective way to do it, but he is also under NDA of sorts so he won't reveal the company's future plans to us anyway.
@Erg As I just posted on that thread, the non-spawning monsters are a carry-over bug from vanilla BG2. Just move a few rooms away, rest a couple times, then go back and they should be there. A couple of times I've actually had monsters spawn on top of me where they should have been as I approached them.
Thank you all for the input. My main concern was bugs that keep you from finishing quests or the game. Or worse yet, screwing up saves. But from what you all say there shouldn't be any problems so you'll be seeing a +1 to your copies sold soon Beamdog.
EDIT: Oh, and as for the lack of new portraits/voice sets. I've come to realize I'm EXTREMELY picky when it comes to them. On average I spend about 3 hours trying to find a portrait online, another hour and a half for a voice set, and am usually too exhausted to spend more then 30 minutes rolling up stats lol. So even if Beamdog added 50 portraits/voice sets I likely would still be finding a different one anyways.
I can't test the bug myself as I didn't buy BG2EE, but it looks to me (from what I read from other people reports) more like a carry-over bug from BGEE as it doesn't seem to affect only Irenicus' Dungeon.
In fact BGEE was affected by this bug, that I find very annoying, for almost a year (until patch 1.2; in the patch release notes they say it is gone now, but I didn't test it personally), and this particular bug was nothing like the behaviour of vanilla bg2 you are describing. Actually it's the main reason why I stopped playing BGEE and went back to BG1tutu (that's what I'm still currently playing).

@Remenissions Sorry for the double post, but I didn't notice the above quoted sentence before.
Actually there is currently a bug in BG2EE that can corrupt badly your saves:
Just to be clear, it isn't my intention to dissuade you from buying BG2EE, I'm just trying to provide more information so you can make an informed decision.
Is wort every dollar. But, I expected some new adventures and quests, NPCs... Also, graphic style is great but it would be better if it'll be done in UE3 engine with opengl extensions. I can't get it to work with Sweetfx/efx.
Its pretty decent, though the new characters arent given the depth of the old ones. Good try, but still the feeling with them isnt the same. The dialogs and the responses seem to be a bit fake.
I entered TOB now and was so frustrated with Dorn and Hexxat that i killed them and got Sarevok and Immy back.
The biggest dissapointment is that the old characters talk a LOT more with voices despite the new that they are mostly text. I mean when you arrive in hell, every signle old companion had a verbal punchline but the new ones just some text to read.
I believe that since the EE is 10+ years later they should at least have every text voice covered to add some flavor.
The new areas now lack some originality and they seem like they where made more to impress than to serve their purpose. The tried to put every idead they had into them and that didnt end up very well.
So if they go for a brand new BG3 i think i will not support it. At least i got my old same favorite games Graphically enhanced
Definetely worth it and surprisingly few bugs (on a mac - I expected more problems with that migration but so far savegame bug hasn't struck. Might actually be more stable than the PC version . The only thing that hit me so far is the missing Watcher's Keep but there is an easy workaround with the console. I just wish there was a multi-platform license for us addicts that have an install on every system and tablet...
If you have the original game, NO with all the fixes for it not worth getting it. Since it seems they no intention to fix anything rogue is broken badly if you try and dual them, other than the new companions only one which would even worth getting. Second problem is both games are made by 2 different companies Beamdog and Overhaul, so unless they play nice with each other the left hand will not know what the right hand is doing.

Indeed. Now I'm hungry.

I've got two BG2 non-EE games in progress. Once they're done, not going back.

Anyway if it doesn't bother you, go ahead
