Mouse pointer is invisible if the mouse pointer trail is turned on in Windows

Like it says in the topic. Obviously the pointer should be visible. I assume this is caused because turning on the mouse trail switches the mouse pointer to being software rendered instead of hardware rendered.
(Which is why I have it turned on, with a negative mouse trail length to remove the trail. Otherwise color management does not work on the pointer, which is annoying because it causes significant discoloration on my calibrated display.)
Edit: Turning off the hardware cursor works to fix the issue, but this shouldn't be required, the hardware cursor should work fine if implemented right!
