Rabbit's Run II
Being the journal of Rabbit, a Dragon Disciple Sorcerer, sworn to poverty
BGIIEE, opening stats, after doing BGIEE, all of the TOTSC part of the game
Rabbit: Level 12 Dragon Disciple, Human, 19/19/21/19/11/16 Lawful Neutral.
You may be wondering how I came about these Godlike stats? Two things that I allowed myself to acquire in the way of 'material things' in BG1, was a thirst for a companion, a familiar, whom I seem to have misplaced during my abduction. The second, was a thirst for knowledge, and, I did read every Tome I came across. This is how I came to have these stats, and the fact that Dragons acquire Con points as we go along. Now, I am not going to go into what my spell selection has been, if you are interested, you can look at 'Rabbit's Run', in the BGIEE general discussion thread.....
Rabbit's Run, Irenicus' Dungeon
I awoke to find myself being tortured by some Bastard of a Mage. It seemed to have been going on for some time. I was powerless, spent, with no way to defend myself, in a cage. He eventually left, and, along came Imoen, my old friend from the 'Keep, who released me. I have no desire to travel with her, and turned her loose. I slept to recharge my spells, and grabbed a Quarterstaff, and got out of there. I basically killed every enemy on the first floor, got the Acorns for the Nymphs, and freed Irenicus' Djinni slave. On up to the next level, I blasted the Mephit Portals with Melf's Meteors after casting Mislead., and beat feet out the Dungeon, into the bright sunshine of Athkatla.
Here, I find both Imoen and Irenicus having a discussion, and they flung a couple of spells at each other, bringing in some 'Cowled Enforcers'. They didn't have much luck bringing Irenicus down, but, in an interesting ploy, he let them take him, as long as they took Imoen with him.... and so they did. I wonder what he is up to, I would like to ask some questions of him as to why he was torturing the Hell out of me. Something to do with my lineage, I suspect.
Just like that, I am alone in a strange land.

So, having no need to go to the Store, and no money spend in any case, I talked to a little boy next to a Circus Tent, and then talked to the guard to get inside. Inside, it was a bit weird, and I answered a question posed to me by a Djinn,( so full of questions, the Djinni). Inside, there was a rather cute Elven Mage, in the form of an Ogre, of all things. I talked to the boy's mother,(in the form of a Spider). Hmmm, things here seem to be Illusionary, at least. I got the 'key', to free Aerie, or whatever her name is, and she told me of her Uncle held captive further into the Citadel. A *scantily* clad Nymph,( are there any other kind?) greeted me, and, stoneskinned, blurred, and Misled, I went up to the top. Kalah, a disgruntled Gnome Illusionist, welcomed me, and, well, an acid arrow and a couple Magic Missiles,(M&M's) took him out. Another offer of
companionship, which I refused, and it was like, what next?
I decided to go into the Inn of the Seven Veils, to maybe talk to some locals, and while investigating the upstairs,( Invisible) I saw a group of unsavory characters. Which, to me, means battle, and experience,( the only commodity I value, besides knowledge). I went back down, and cast Mislead, went back up and lobbed three Cloudkills into the room. They seemed to see me somewhat, and I cast Invisible as the Orc, and Mencar Pebblecrusher came towards me.The cloud dropped the Mage and his familiar outright. The Orc went berserk, and he and Risling killed Pebblecrusher, then went at each other. Dumb-asses fought each other standing in the Cloud. Risling won. I tried to DragonBreath him, but, he only got badly injured, and took off. I only got the credit for the Mage and Pooky, sigh.
I went back outside, and, as I don't like to walk about without being Stoneskinned, I cast it outside. And, was met with a Cowled Enforcer who 'ported in, and told me to stop using magic or I would be labeled a Deviant, and had better go to get a license if I wished to use magic. Being that magic is pretty much all I have, I decided reluctantly that's what I would need to do next.
So, I left the Market and headed off to the Slums District, where I was approached by a Thief named Gaelan Bayle. We went over to his place where he told me he could hook me up with some people who could hook me up with Imoen, for a price, of course!. So, now, I need to come up with 20,000 gold to do that, so I could catch up to Irenicus, and ask him some questions. I knew that I was not ready to confront him yet, anyhow, so, I need both more experience, AND money to get to Imoen.
So, I needed to rest, and had zero gold, there was 34 gold in a chest in the Copper Coronet, which got me a night in the stables for 1 Gp. I talked to a sleazeball named Lehtinen, and got access to the back, where the depravity went on. I cast mislead, and pre-cast Meteors, and went in the back where the slave cells were. I tossed a skull trap to the left corner, and another to the far right. Then, I talked to the guard on the stairs, and the fun began. a second or two later and everybody was dead, no sweat... Spoke to Hendak, and told him I'd go get the cell key from 'the Beastmaster'. I smoked the Winter Wolf with some Meteors, and lobbed a C-K into the cage area.... dropping everybody/thing back there. Once the Cloud cleared, I took the key off him, and freed the Slaves. I went into the fray, and helped out here and there. Soon enough, it was over, and the pickings from the battle came up to about 5600 gold, a nice start!
Some spacey chick named Hexxat, or some such wanted me to take her to the Grave District, but, I don't have the time for that right now. In my own time, by myself, maybe. Next stop, the Sewers under the Copper Coronet, to go kill some more slave traders.
Underneath the sewers, I snuck up to some Hob-gobs, backed off, and C-K'd them, I misled, and then went around to the SW, and Skull-trapped an Otyugh, hit him some acid arrows, and then a Sunfire did him in. I gave a beat down to Ochre Jelly, and then did in a Mustard Jelly. They didn't see me as I was misled, and it was all real smooth. This got me Level 13. I took Spider Spawn, Animate Dead, and Remove Magic.
Level 13
I solved the 'Riddle of the Sewers', and then went into the Slaver ship, misled, of course, and took the first room with a couple of Cloudkills, including Capt. Haegan, took his key. Next up, I summoned three Sword Spiders, and two Skeleton Warriors.( Note, they ARE skelly Warriors, I'm not complaining, but, that's not supposed to happen till level 15...). I opened the door to where the Trolls were, and sent them in. The trolls didn't have a chance. I finished them when they went down with a single meteor shot each.
Leaving my minions behind, I freed all the slave children, and then misled again. I lobbed a Cloudkill into both rooms on either side... slavers left, Juan-Ti right, and picked up the loot when the clouds dissipated.
I beat feet back to the C-C, and got my XP for the mission. All told, the loot came up to 20,048 gold, enough for Gaelan Bayle, but, then upon leaving, I was approached by two different people, the first, I am sure was a Vampire. I want nothing to do with them. Which means I will have to put my faith in Gaelan Bayle's people. The good news is, the price is down to 15,000 gp, which should give me enough for a magic License. Which I went to the Gov't District and purchased. Now, I can operate in the streets.
I do not believe that I will pay Bayle right away, and commit myself to the hatred of the Vamps.... rather, I will play the middle for awhile, and build up my experience before joining the Shadow Thieves.
and went off to sleep at the Five Flagons Inn.
After that, I decided to go talk to Nalia at the C-C, and, along the way happened to be in the place where Neera 'ported back from before. We chatted a little bit, and then she marked her camp on my map, and was off. Just before the C-C, I was accosted by two toughs on the street. I Iv'd, and summoned a Skelly, then also two Spiders. That was more than sufficient, and 10,000 more Xp was mine. Got the directions to Nalia's Keep, and was off.
Or so I thought. I've been getting ambushed pretty much everywhere in this city, and, this time it was because I stumbled across a kidnapping. They saw me see them, so, it was on. I Iv'd, backed off a bit, and cast a Skelly, then another. Sending them in on the group worked out quite well, what with the Skellys being highly magic resistant, they make a very good screen for fighting groups with mage types in 'em.
Sometimes, you dictate events and, other times events dictate your actions. This was one of the latter times and, not being the type to leave a man lying in the street, I found myself carrying one Renfield to the Harper's compound in the Docks District. This got me some more easy Xp, and that was that....sure, riiiiiight!
After leaving the Harper's , I was spotted by who?... Xzar, as in Xzar and Montaron from way back in the day. He wanted something from me, of course, and, being that I did know him, I said, 'sure, I'll help you get Montaron back' The arrogant prick, I'll stick a fork in you if I can, though, thought I....
I went back and talked to Rylock, and he tasked me to go kill some people in a house in order to get access to the Harper Compound. I know the Harpers a little bit, and, they were up to something. I was a pawn between them and Xzar. I knew which side I would take, and did as they bid me to.
It was easy, killing the two Mages and their collection of Imps, or whatever they were. Back to talk to Rylock got me into the Compound, and, I was able to gain access to the upstairs after I found an Amulet in a desk. Up, went I, and found an Aviary where 'Montaron' was transformed into a bird. I took him back to Xzar outside, and he tried to change him back, but, it wasn't Monty, but a Harper Assassin.... bye bye Xzar, can't say I'll miss you.....! He had some nice stuff, all of which I am sworn not to use, sigh.
After spending the night in the stables of the 'Crooked Crane', in the City Gates District, and without incident, left for Nalia's Keep.
The ambush on the way there took me by suprise a little bit, but, I bent the battle around to me by getting a little distance on the group, and going invisible..... after that, well....
