Case in point: Scarlet Ninja To +3

How it should look:
Only Usable By:

Monks
How it currently looks in the game:
Not Usable By:

CHAOTIC GOOD
CHAOTIC NEUTRAL
CHAOTIC EVIL
NEUTRAL GOOD
NEUTRAL EVIL
BARD
CLERIC
CLERIC / MAGE
CLERIC / THIEF
CLERIC / RANGER
FIGHTER
FIGHTER / DRUID
FIGHTER / MAGE
FIGHTER / CLERIC
FIGHTER / MAGE / CLERIC
FIGHTER / MAGE / THIEF
FIGHTER / THIEF
MAGE
MAGE / THIEF
PALADIN
RANGER
THIEF
DRUID
ELF
HALF-ORC
DWARF
HALF-ELF
HALFLING

BARBARIAN
I actually had to do a Google search and find out who could use it, because I gave up halfway through trying to decipher that mess. Please bring back the old descriptions.

Also, true neutral and sorcerer are missing from the list.

Sorry if this has been touched on before, I did a search and couldn't find much.

It's just a small thing, but I find it frustrating, the original BG used to have "usable by" in the description of items, instead of "not usable by".

I'd like it brought back, or at least on certain items that have a massive list of "not usable by" when it's only usable by 1 class.

    For example:

Trying to figure out what character can use a necklace that says:
Not usable by: Bard, Fighter, Fighter/Druid, Fighter/Mage, Fighter/Mage/Thief, Fighter/Thief, Mage, Mage/Thief, Paladin, Ranger, Thief, Druid.

    Instead of the original:
    Usable by: Cleric, Cleric (Multi-class)

It's time consuming trying to figure out who can use that necklace, and other items with similar descriptions.

I would say this is a bug, not a feature; moved.

I understand. The reason I put this under feature requests is because the "feature" I'm requesting is the complete scrapping of the automated usability description system in favor of the old manual descriptions.

The original BG and BG2 functioned in this way. There is no support for making items usable by a character that meets a certain requirement; rather, the game restricts the use of items by characters that possess a certain exclusion criterion. Of course that doesn't mean that the developers couldn't rework how the game handles determining which items are useable by which characters. However, it is important to note that flipping around how the game handles such things to make the description of the Scarlet Ninja-to easier to read would make some items more difficult to read. For example, the list of who can't use a non-magical dagger is very easy to read, but the list of who can use it would be rather lengthy.

@Emptiness I'm not asking for a fundamental change in how the game handles usability flags, I'm asking only for the old manual descriptions to replace the new flawed automated system.

I'm looking at the original BG2 description of the Scarlet Ninja-To right now. I'll copy it here for reference:
    STATISTICS

Equipped Ability: one extra attack per round
Combat Ability: Poison damage of 6 hit-points per round, for two rounds, if target fails a saving throw versus poison
    THAC0: +3 bonus
    Damage: 1D8 +3
    Damage type: slashing
    Weight: 2
    Speed Factor: 1
    Proficiency Type: Scimitar/Wakizashi/Ninja-To
    Type: 1-handed
    Requires: 6 Strength
    Usable By:
    Monks

Description was changed/automated to ensure you'd always get the relevant information, regardless of the description.
An automated process that checks whether the "can use" or the "can't use" list is shorter and display it would probably be the best of both worlds, and would probably not be *that* hard to implement I guess.

Oh, I see. My mistake, then; I thought that the original BG2 only listed "not usable by" and never "usable by".

My blade with UAI is rocking with this thing in the pits :p

Does the extra attack stack with belm? I'm using it with the +4 one with +1 AC atm.

Known bug (#6034) reported internally about a month ago (also addresses incorrect use of ALL CAPS in usabilities).
