Evil party

It's been ages since I played Baldur's Gate (the original series) and now I am playing again the enhanced versions but I don't remember much.

I need some advice for my evil party composition in terms for party fit (skills) and power. Role-play is a secondary criterion but I do enjoy nice interactions.

I know I don't have to have a full evil party, but I don't want my followers to start attacking each other all of a sudden.

Charname is a lawful evil gnome fighter/illusionist with the following profs:
katana +
scimitar ++
two-weapon fighting +++

I am really in favor of Edwin, Hexxat and Dorn.

Any suggestions?

    Well, BG2EE has the astoundingly awesome combo of Dorn (damage dealer), Korgan (tank, also damage), Hexxat (best thief), Viconia (best cleric), and Edwin (best mage). You can swap out Dorn or Korgan in ToB for the NPC there. The evil NPCs all banter with each other and its been highly entertaining so far =)

    In BG1EE its a bit trickier. Just remember that Shar-Teel and Eldoth will try to kill each other. My BG1 team was Dorn, Viconia, Edwin, Shar-Teel (dualed to thief at level 6) and Xzar (dualed to Cleric at level 6). You could also run with Kagain, who is an excellent tank but nowhere near as damaging as Korgan in BG2, Monty as a thief, Baeloth for spell casting (warning: Baeloth, Edwin and Dorn in a single party turns the game into a cakewalk). Eldoth makes a good archer with his poison arrows, but really needs the Gauntlets of Dex, so isn't that compatible with Kagain (who also needs them). You also have to pick up Skie, but you can always lock her in a building or take her on the Basilisk walk. There's also always Tiax.

    With a Sorcerer Charname I've been rolling with Dorn, Korgan, Hexxat, Viconia and Jan.

    Jan is awesome and being Chaotic neutral sticks around easily in evil parties but if you're looking for party fit and your charname is a fighter/illusionist Edwin would probably be a better choice to round you out more heavily on the magic side.

    OK. This was easy then!

    In terms of proficiencies:

    charname dual-weilding scimitars
    dorn: two-handed & crossbow
    korgan: axe & ???
    viconia: mace & sling
    edwin: staff & dart
    hexxat: no clue (dagger / shortbow?)

    How does that sound? I don't want 2 members with the same weapon of choice specialization.

    Sounds like an excellent team to me.

    Hexxat is basically specialised in single weapon style and bladed weapons (and a club). I gave her a pip in katana and had her backstabbing with Celestial Fury, which works well.

    Also Korgan is the most stereotyped dwarf ever. Axes, Axes and Axes, maybe the odd hammer.

    If you have charname and Dorn as damage dealers, I'd probably make Korgan more of a tank. Give him a shield and one handed weapons, flail would come to mind since you have no-one for Flail of Ages yet.

    hm.. I was thinking of giving him the Crom Faeyr. I wonder if I get enough pips to have him dual-wield the axe and the flail.

    @eudaemonium good idea for the katana.

    Evil parties in BG2 are so much stronger than good parties.
