Can't seem to make these work on a target instead.

Can you describe exactly which spell you're trying to cast and how? All the ones I checked operate on a target, not the caster. Strictly speaking, Cause Serious Wounds and Cause Critical Wounds create an invisible magical weapon on the caster. You then use the spell by attempting to hit a target, as you would with a melee weapon.

It's cause serious wounds and cause critical wounds that I'm talking about. Every time I cast them, they immediately cause the caster to lose hit points. I had Jaheira try these against Faldorn...

Would you be able to upload a save file we can use for testing? :)

Do you have any mods installed by chance?

I think I've got one right before the druid match, actually. I'll send it along tonight. Also, I should mention, I use no mods.

(Sorry haven't posted yet -- RL got complicated. Will try tonight.)

Ugh, OK, I can't repro it now. When I cast the spell, I now correctly get the cause wounds icons in my weapons cells, and I correctly inflict damage on the target on a successful hit. The only difference on my machine is that I applied the patch this evening before trying this-- but I didn't read about any fix for this in the release notes in the other thread, so now I don't know what was going on that caused the bad behavior earlier.

Ignore for now -- I will reactivate if I see this again. Sorry for the fire drill.
