Interesting weapon choices for a half-elf Blade

so after reading the responses in another thread of mine I'll decide to roll a blade. I've played one about 10 years ago in BG2:SoA but don't really remember much. I was dual wielding back then but in BGEE it seems not a good way to go because it is only good with 2 or 3 points into the "two weapons style" which is better left for higher levels I'd say..

What are interesting uses? the fact that bards can use any weapon is really cool. I'm thinking halberds or 2-handed swords but Dorn will already be using those. What do you use when not using 2 weapons?

If your only concern is whether it'll be effective, you can definitely dual wield in BGEE. Blades can only put one point in weapon proficiencies so you don't have to spend points raising those.

Two handed swords are okay too, Dorn can only use one at a time and there's two good ones available.

One thing I found surprisingly effective (in the Black Pits at least, haven't tried it in an actual game) is using magically created weapons like Chill Touch. Dual wield daggers and cast it for one extra APR, and go at it with slappers! You get three slaps per round with Offensive Spin and the two-weapon penalties don't carry over so it's respectable if not top-tier damage.

If you don't want to dual wield, you should get the Chelsey Crusher, a halbeard that limits APR to 1 (whihch you have as a Bard), but increased damage. With your spin attacks you then dish out tons of damage.

Most interesting! I just CTRL+J'd myself from candlekeep all the way to that halberd, tried it out on a spider on the next map over. First attack that hits is a crit during offensive spin. 40 damage! Not bad for a lvl 1 bard... heh!
