Question about cleric thief in bg 2 ee

Is there any improvement to the cleric thief interface? I haven't bought the game yet (been hooked on enemy within ATM) but was thinking of character ideas. I've liked the concept but was always annoyed thieving was special abilities. I prefer thieving being f5. After having played countless thieves it just feels unnatural.

I've been watching my bro play and it looks great, he's supposed to buy me a copy soon :)
