Issue with an old save after recent 1.2 patch

I was playing a Gnome Illusionist for a while and after a short hiatus from him I am now wanting to take him through BG1 into BG2. My problem is that when I resumed playing the save my Gnome Illusionist can no longer use many items (eg. Ring of Wizardry, Haste potions, daggers, scrolls (of any school)). So, WTH, who has experienced this?

    Have you any mods installed (or did you before)? Is this character from BG:EE, or vanilla?

    @Dee

    No mods with the exception of a staff I had made in DLTCEP which broke with the new patch, but should that effect anything? He is BG:EE.

    And you haven't used EE Keeper either, right?

    I used EE Keeper to equip the staff I had made in DLTCEP

    Maybe attach your save, then I can check this out. But if you are familiar with DLTCEP, you can take a look at your ring's usability page too. Item usability shouldn't be affected by old/new saves because item properties are not saved.

    Here is the save. Thanks for looking at this for me.

    Wow--there are a ton of "disallow item" affects applied to this character. His class is listed as "mage" but his kit is listed as "unknown - 52" and my game tools cannot translate the lasres item. I wonder where the "w_magesw" and "w_pwizsplmod" local variables came from?

    Getting rid of all those "disallow item" affects and correcting the kit back to Illusionist-26 should help.

    Your gnome has a weird kit setting (no doubt from some mod) that's what causes the problem. Either install that kit or clear the kit from your character.

    Ok, I will pull him up in EEKeeper and attempt to clear the kit. I guess some was done inadvertently when I assigned him the staff "lasres" that @Mathsorcerer mentioned. Either way, thanks to both of you I will try the suggestions.
