The OTHER other new character.

I'm talking about

Wilson the bear.

Assuming that's really a thing and not an elaborate forum joke, how do you get (presumably) him? I saw something about having to see him in BGEE first - I don't recall running into such a fellow. What's the actual requirements?

Too bad he wasn't playable in EE, I'd have felt obliged to team him and Faldorn up.
Can he summon werebears??
They added ANOTHER NPC, And I didn't heard about it.
    Holy crap.
    Just damn.
How can I left that unnoticed?
    Going to play it again!
    Now!
I never saw someone with that name in BG:EE, and I'd like to hear whatever yourselves know.

What's this about Brynnlaw? I heard tell that you could only get him in ToB?

For anyone who missed seeing him (like me), you can create him with the following console command:
C:CreateCreature("wilson11")
. And CTR-Q him to force join your group so you can take a quick peek.
he can't seem to equip any items, but I think it would be funny if he could wear a robe and a hat. But then again that may count as animal cruelty.
Well it seems that Wilson is actually a thing. He has his own "leaving the party" conversation and has a spot in the pocket plane that he will walk to when dismissed. ("wilson13") and ("wilson9") are the two commands to use with CreateCreature to spawn him.

As for how you get him to join your party without the console, that is not known to me yet. I've freed Wilson in Rasaad's quest but he ran away. I'm in the Underdark now so I'm wondering when I'll get to see him next or if I messed up and could see him earlier as LiamEsler said, though I'm pretty darn sure he's trolling.

Did you talk to him before freeing him?

I did. Then I talked to the guy holding him in his cage and gave him gold for Wilson. Wilson just ran away (probably the EscapeArea() script) when the cage opened so I killed the guy I paid to get a refund.

Hmm. Then I may be stumped. Did you get the quest to find him from Neera's Encampment before rescuing him, and did you check there afterwards? I haven't actually gotten him, so I'm just guessing here, mind you.

    Ah, got it.

The entire process to get Wilson is as follows:
While doing Neera's quest, talk to Zaviak the anachronistic wild mage who is totally far-out, man. Then do Rasaad's quest and get to the Heretic Temple. Get to Wilson's cage and speak to him after the monk kills the tiger. Promise to free him and give his "handler" 1000 gold for him. He'll run away to where you first entered the map. Killing his handler is optional. Go back to where you first entered the map and talk to him and he'll join you.

For me, he is currently chilling in the Copper Coronet. XD

I've tested him out in the Dark Moon assault in the Twofold Temple and he's not as radical as Zaviak makes him out to be. Definitely the weakest of the melee-types because he can't wear anything and can only drink healing potions.

Then again he's pretty much a joke character. Maybe I'll use him in a party of me, a Ranger->Cleric, Jaheira, Minsc, Valygar, and Cernd.

The character is question is quite real, I assure you. As real as anything in a fantasy videogame is, I mean.

    What joke would that be?

I really hope Wilson's last name is Bearington then. I've always wanted to travel with Sir Bearington.

I could have him (or her... can Wilson be a female name? I don't know, I have 3 female cats called Sam, Dean and Cass.... so at least for me everything is possible) in my party WITHOUT doing Neera's quest.
I only did Rasaad quest, and finally I could recruit him.
After a while I kicked him out.
Later on, in Neera's quest someone asked about Wilson, so I went back to re-recruit him and I completed his quest.
I completed Neera's quest with him and finally I left him in Copper Coronet.
I think I'll find a way to bring him in Brynnlaw :)

A question regarding Wilson. Are his claws supposed to hit as enchanted as he levels? If so, they currently do not, since things like shadows are immune to his damage.

So I've done Rasaad quest, fought of the attack on the temple ... And am now looking for Wilson the big pappa bear, but what am I missing?! I found the cages, but they're empty? I didn't find them until after I did the whole temple fight etc. btw, so is it to late now? Or am I totally missing something? :)

I don't know, maybe you have to free the bear before the big fight. That's what I did (there were other miniquest outside the temple, and I'm quite sure you have to complete all of them before the fight, and maybe even before the "test", because they are connected).

He--wouldn't happen to be related to a certain bear in Mask of the Betrayer--would he? :O This is a very interesting development for me, I will have to shock my friend by getting him in our MP party at some point, lol

Yea, Wilson certainly reminds me of Okku from MotB.

    It's not.

I posted a hint about it on November 8, 2013, before BG2:EE was released to the public, but no one took the bait.

I figured there would be. I did not expect it to be a bear.
