Which weapon proficiencies would you recommend for F/M/T ?

Hello, I recently finished BG:EE and I'm going to start again with elf F/M/T. I want to ask what would be the best weapons to use ? I'm considering using duals, but not sure for 100%. Is it worth to use hide in shadows and backstabs ? What are the constraints to this multi-class ?

Two handed weapons, quarterstaves, & shortbow is my current.

Dual weapon style for main combat and single weapon style for backstabs (crit range on 19-20).

Longswords, scimitars or short swords. As a F/M/T you can only take 2 pips in each weapon so you should be able to have some options in choice.

I like using Carsomyr on mine when I get Use All Items. Bonus attacks from fighter, magespells like mirror image, stoneskin and improved haste along with that weapon makes for a rather decent combo :)

Clubs, quarterstaves, and longswords for tactical backstabbing action.

Either quarterstaffs for Staff of the Magi, Scimitars for Belm and the Ninja To with an extra attack per round each, and Drizzt's scimmys and a couple of other named end game ones, or Katanas for the katana that gives bonus mage spells (not really the best choice though as quarterstaffs and scimitars have much better named items).

Didnt they add grandmastery for multi class fighters in BGEE / BG2EE?

Can you backstab with a two-handed sword? I don't seem to recall that you can which spoils it a bit.

most powerful? two weapon style, scimitar, flail, though you could go bastard sword instead, BG2EE adds a great contender there for FoA.

why? two weapon style because it's the most damaging, and you already have great defenses.
scimitar because of Belm and Scarlet Ninja-To (with UAI), both giving extra attacks. there's also an easy-to-get +4 one in WK.
and finally, flail because of FoA. (just chance it's appearance, because flails in IE games look idiotic)
if you didn't import, warhammer can also be a good choice, thanks to Crom Faeyr, but with 22 str eventually, I personally did not bother

also, BG1 style weapon profs component of tweakpack (which currently does not work for BG2EE) is godsend and much better than the originals, giving you way more variety in weapon types. last time I did BG2, I've used that, and stuck to Celestial Fury for most of the original game, because it's amazing.

edit: also, equipping Dak'kon's Zhert Blade before resting and using it for an extra stoneskin - mirror image - prof. from whatever combo is quite effective... though the lack of mirror image fix takes a bite out of their power in BG2EE.

quarterstaves, imo. Everyone gets fixated on Carsomyr, but SoTM is of greater utility.

There are a lot new items out there, 2handed, a lot from Kara-Tur (katanas, Ninjato's) even some Bastard swords. Mace is still a little underpowered, but there are some new war hammers around, and the FOA might even become a +5 if my memory serves.
