Why are fan creations considered off topic?

I just don't get it. It also leads to that no one ever peaks their head into that subforum because people come here for Baldur's Gate and off topic suggests that there is no Baldur's Gate to be found.

It's just sad, because I don't really see the point in posting my Baldur's Gate Fanart here anymore because of that...

    Wait, Fanart is in off-topic?

Wow, they moved Fan Creations. I had no idea. They need to put it back with the main sub forums.

Seems like an odd choice. Maybe @Dee can explain why its in off topic?

For much the same reason that Roleplaying is in the Off Topic section. It's not that we want to discourage people from making fan art or fan fiction, but it's not directly relevant.

Also putting it in Off Topic means that if, for example, you want to just post a story you wrote that doesn't have anything to do with BG, you can do that without fear of it being removed.

Fan Art sections don't usually see much traffic not because they're hidden but rather because they aren't what people are typically looking for when they go to a video game's official forums.
