What do I miss by not important from BG1

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Do I really miss anything? Can I still do the new character quest from where they left off? I made a char in BG1 and decided I wanted to do something different for BG2 (Like I do every time I say I'm going to import my char at the start of BG1.)

Will it really matter if I start a new game for BG2?

    Nah. No character flags carry over, and the only ways an import affects your BG2 playthrough are 1. tomed stats 2. extra starting xp 3. some item based events, tied to Drizzt's gear. 4. extra items in the initial dungeon
