The game is based on the second edition of D&D. There won't be any anto-paladin.
Someone hasn't been keeping up with the news They announced that the Blackguard (anti-paladin) kit will be in the game a couple of days ago. Or do you mean when I said "fallen paladin"? Because in the BG rules: "- If party reputation drops below 6, becomes a Fallen Paladin, loses all Paladin abilities, and is the equivelant of a Fighter (cannot regain Paladin status) "
Seems to me that this would be against the spirit of the class. A paladin losing his/her status for committing evil deeds should be a punishment, not an opportunity to change abilities. Could a blackguard with a high enough rep be able to change to a paladin?

Either way, doesn't make much sense to me.
Yes, I thought so. Your classic story of a righteous warrior becoming corrupted and turning to the darker arts once his gods abandoned him, or the redemtion of the twisted villain into a force for good and law. It would also be a punishment as such a unoptimised Dual-Class would put one at a significant disadvantage.
Also I dunno if it's been thought of yet, but what if blackguard is its own seperate class so it isn't a paladin or fighter kit and starts with a lower reputation and if your reputation gets too high or you change your alignment from evil you become a fallen blackguard and lose all access to your spells and abilities. This would also open up the ability for its own class stronghold without sharimg with paladin or fighter.
too bad. i would love to see fallen paladin as the first stage of corruption evolving into blackguard in the end and vice versa. i was hoping for many more instances of moral flexibility, reflecting into classes, abilities, reputation and maybe even story...
The story of a Fallen Paladin isn’t all that unfamiliar though. There’s a number of heroes in the Forgotten Realms universe that have converted from Paladin to Blackguard; Lady Aribeth being a good example, since she's probably the most widely known Paladin/Blackguard in the FR gaming community.
Also, in DnD rules, when a Paladin becomes a Fallen, they have the option to trade in their levels to an equivalent Blackguard level. The only issue would be that BG1-2 uses 2E as its base rules, and I believe 3E is what allowed Paladins to become Blackguards. BUT! The Blackguard kit wasn’t even relased until 3E, so if they’re willing to put a prestige class from 3E into a 2E campaign, then they should also allow the Paladin to convert (if decided).
lol… Of course, if they don’t have time to spare to be adding in this feature, that’s perfectly fine with me. XD I don’t mind just being a Fallen, and struggling to survive.
