For some reason, most of the dialogue/item descriptions have changed to Invalid: and then a string of numbers, I have no idea what to do.

    Patches wipe the game directory by nature; any mods installed are removed when you install a patch.

    I am also having the same issue as twinkiey, short of a full re-install I don't know what to do.

    Start a new game, I'm afraid. There's not a lot we can do on our end.

    Deleted everything in my Steam/Steamapps/common/Baldurs Gate 2 Enhanced Edition folder, reinstalled, kept my saves, worked perfectly

    Ensure that in your Steam settings for the game you have auto-updating DISABLED.
