I'm assuming you mean from level 1 through the end of ToB. Since you're doing this out of boredom, I'd play the sorc; assuming you roll an 18 dex, you can decide later on if you'd like to dual to thief or continue as a sorc.

Edit: I just started rolling a character as I, too, am bored, and now I'm not sure- can you dual out of (or into) being a sorcerer?

Um, sorcerers can't dual class... unless you got some kind of mod going on.

I'm probably gonna make the decision in an hour, but so far Half-Elf blade seems to be winning

EDIT: Whelp, looks like Half-Elf blade won. Unanimously, I might add.

Cavalier dualwielding bastardswords/longswords :) the blade is also pretty fun, as it is an extremely powerfull class when played right

I didn't really think the Kensai / Druid would get as many votes as it did :)

Elf Stalker is the only non-boring, not overdone choice.

Wow, looks like all of them got a lot of votes, even after the decision. I have to try all of them out then, I guess :P

Kensai druid sounds weird as hell and as such I heartily endorse it

Oh they're *BEYOND* weird. Especially considering the other Fighter/Druid combinations have some cool perks to them (like wearing metal armor!). This one wears no armor, can't use slings, but gets an awesome maximize damage ability, along with Grand Mastery in any weapon.

If I had to use this combo, I'd go Grand-Mastery Quarterstaffs, and two-handed weapon style, then just use spells like barkskin or iron skin to have protection. I'd say this build would be more caster heavy though.

I would say, play a cavalier that wont use the holy avenger, infact the first bg2ee game I played he used katanas and bastard swords all the way up to the purifier, it was a nice change

If I didn't play Carsomyr Paladin, I'd play Flail of Ages Paladin :P ... Though sword and shield is pretty effective regardless.

A hell of a caster who is mighty dangerous with a mere stick in their hand.

Become what you must, GamingFreak. Walk down the path of righteousness and help make the sword coast a better place for everyone.

I'm playing a half elf blade right now actually. really enjoying it. nice class, feels useful without feeling broken and overpowered like a Fighter/Mage.

Well if I make a Cavalier, I think I will avoid Carsomyr. Kinda boring to rely on the same weapon each time I roll Paladins.

Kensai/Druid would also be interesting because it's rarely played.

Oh, and if you're looking to power game elves make the best sorcs.
  • Elf Stalker is really fun to play with, and can become incredibly powerful with the right items.

I have a K>D idea that I keep meaning to take through the saga. If you dual at 7 in BG1 then you can have Ironskins by the end of the game, since you still hit Druid lvl 9. Dualling at 9 is also fine (for BG2), since Druid 10 takes hardly any XP to reach (less than half the XP to reach Kensai 9, in fact). Of course you have to play all of BG1 with squishy Kensai.

Dualling at 13 is *feasible*, but you hit a danger zone around the Druid 14/15 experience plateau. Also obviously since you can't wear the Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialisation, duelling at 13 is the only way to maximise APR (assuming DWing with Belm in the off-hand). I'm more inclined to do the run now that they've added some more nice scimitars into BG2EE, like Water's Edge +3 and Hawksight +2. In addition to
    Wilson, as an animal companion
