Dorn, post 3rd quest *major spoilers*

Is there any tangible benefit to killing his patron? Losing all his blackguard abilities for the sake of roleplaying just really isn't my style. Perhaps if he could redeem himself in another way or if his ending was different this MIGHT be worth it, but now he feels like dead weight for no reason and I'm wondering if I should just pick up Korgan instead. Anyone know his his story changes based on the fact that he can become a fallen blackguard, or is that pretty much it?

So, I kept him after killing both the demon and the devil. The obvious and immediate benefit is that the Abyssal Blade makes him ideal for dealing with demons/devils. The second reason is that he is a two-hander who isn't Minsc and there is a lot good stuff you can put on him that you wouldn't on Korgan (like the one nice new two handed sword only for blackguards).

Still, it all depends on how much you used his previous abilities. I may have used his Aura of Despair once and only because I happened to remember he even has it at that moment.

But apart from that, yeah, that's it. Unless something happens in ToB but I'm not there yet.

There are hints of stuff happening in ToB, not sure what should find out soon though, getting close, and choose the Fallen Blackgaurd path myself..

Thanks for the input, maybe I'll drop him for now and pick him up later.

Dead weight? Not hardly. Dorn's got the highest NPC strength short of Hexxat (who is cheating anyways). He doesn't have the totally excellent damage output of a true fighter, but he's still a reasonable choice. Besides, there's a +5 2HSW on the first floor of Watcher's Keep which is essentially the Anti-Carsomyr, so he's worth taking along.
