8498: Jan Jansen will not rejoin if Jaella is cured but you fail to report back to him in time

Repro steps for this.

Expected.
1 Load attached save.
2 Observe the journal. Jan's quest starts on Day 35 hour 12. Jaella has been cured.
3 Head upstairs.
4 Observe Jan and Jaella are both present.
5 They duologue and are joined by Vaelag, then all 3 head downstairs.
6 Go downstairs.
7 Vaelag and Jaella depart and Jan can rejoin the party.

Observed.
1 Load attached save.
2 Go somewhere else for at least 10 days.
(Jaheira is poisoned but not relevant to this repro so can die or be saved_
3 Return and head upstairs.
4 Observe Jan is present but Jaella is not.
5 Jan will only repeat a line about Jaella being well but will not rejoin the party.

Hey,
I haven't seen this mentioned yet, so I though I'd make a post. Jan's quest began right after I came out of Lavok's sphere, even before Lavok said his final words. Jan left the party and asked me to meet him at the Jansen home, but when I went there he was nowhere in the house. Jaella and Lissa are there, but no interaction is possible. I'm quite frustrated because Jan was the only thief in my party that I've replaced with Yoshimo for the moment, but we know that won't last. Let me know if you've had the same bug and whether you've found a solution.

    I had a problem with Jan's quest also, not the same problem mentioned here but I guess Jan's quest needs a little help. When I finished Jan's quest, I could not take him back to my party again, when I went to his home to give the quest he was upstairs, Jaella and Lissa disappeared, and he kept saying - in a loop - "Thank you for everything Jaella is fine", I could not initiate any other talk...

    Just installed the latest patch, which seemed to solve the problem. Jan was back at the Jansen home and has rejoined my party. Off to Spellhold!

    I installed the patch and he still just keeps repeating the same thing for me too

    You've not only lost your party's thief, you've lost the best liar and comidian. Aaah, the Sword Coast, all full fans of Jan Jansen.

    @DalekDredd: Do you happen to have a saved game at the point where this is happening?

    no unfortunately, I'd quick saved just after, then left the area, which autosaved, so I only had those, my own fault as I'd already heard about the problem beforehand through another site that did walkthroughs and FAQ's trying to find out if I had gone wrong in an earlier quest, the problem could be that I didn't install the update until I was way past Jan's quest. I could always go back to the slums and speak to Jan again, and save there though if that would help.

    This happened to me too and I do have a save. They went downstairs and the game took control away from me. Apparently Jan is supposed to follow down, but he just stands there and since we are in cinematic mode, I can't do anything- not even quit. Any help?

    @caltino can you upload a save?
    it should be located in Documents/Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition/save the save game is named 0000000 and the name you gave to it.
    upload it with the attach file button at the left bottom of the comment box.

    Hi everybody.

    I'm currently playing BG2 on my Ipad an have the same bug as deinora, so I've lost my best and only thief! What am I going to do now?
    I was playing for almost 60 hours, should I START ALL OVER???

    @Kamen‌ get iFunbox in your computer to browse your iPad's files, and search for the save in Baldur's Gate II Enhaced Edition/Library/save. Zip/rar the whole 00000000 save folder that is havung this issue.
    I'll fix it for you ;)

    Thank you, I've solved the issue according to this very helpful topic:

    But still I believe that this is an inadmissible situation - people paid their real money for comfort playing the game on Ipad but obliged to have PC to fix the game by themselves (!). This bug is known for nearly 12 years (!) and Beamdog allowed it to get into final build.
    Eagerly waiting for a patch for Ipad version of this brilliant game.

    You have 10 days to do the quest. It bugs out if you don't do it within this time with "Thank you for everything, Jaella is dead."
