[spoilers] Hexxat's third quest (Shroud of the Unproved) issue

There is a talking "face" in the shroud of the unproved that asks you to put your hand in its mouth. I did so, and spoke to it, and ended up getting teleported to the library. I understand from reading other threads that I am to read the books in the library to get the answers to the face's questions. However, I am now unable to talk to the face. It still says "put your hand in my mouth" and I can click on the face to attempt to interact with it. When I do, my character walks up to the face, and it says in red text in the dialogue box: Bertilak-has nothing to say to you. (Bertilak is my main character's name). It says this no matter which party member I attempt to use to interact with the face. Any idea how to fix this? My last save prior to this is at the start of the tomb, which is not altogether that bad, but it is pretty annoying.
