Cleric/illusionist & number of pips available for Sword and shield style?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I thought I recalled than anyone could put two pips in sword & shield style but my cleric/illusionist can only place one?

Feature or bug?

    I believe you have to have some sort of fighter involved in your class to be able to put more than 1 point in any weapon style (obviously with exception to the kits that specifically state you can put multiple points)

    Indeed - that may be so looking back I'm not sure I have ever played a single class cleric or druid in the BG series to discover that.
