[Not an Issue] BG 2 EE Neera Romance Issue

WARNING POSSIBLE MINOR SPOILERS BELOW

So, I just got BG 2 EE and I'm loving it, I'm a Paladin [Cavalier] Male Human and I'm pursuing the Neera romance [I havn't done her quest yet, I went to the clearing, grabbed her, and left]; Whilst in the Copper Coronet she initiates a conversation about how long I've been in Amn and asks about the torture the PC endured at the hands of Irenicus. At the end of the conversation she speaks about the whole 'two peas in a pod' thing, I responded with a flirt, to which she replied "We're friends! Nothing more!" Did I do something wrong? Is the romance that easy to break at just the first conversation? Or is this supposed to happen? Thanks all.
