    Welcome to the forums man.

    If you want to get started modding a game, check out my thread called the 'Mod List'. It was my plan to create a list of essentials and how to use them (with the help of our forum buddies, I made the thread when I was still learning), but I ended up abandoning the idea as it seemed there wasn't anybody who needed help.

    But go there anyway and read the posts, it will give you somewhere to start.

    What you want to do is get either EasyTutu or Baldur's Gate Trilogy. I recommend EasyTutu, but that's my personal peference. I think you're talking about BiG World Setup, that program is pretty damn confusing (and very unorganized) but if you know how to use it, you'll be in gold.

    But forget BWS right now because it's too hard to start with. Let me give you some links to help.

    If you plan to use EasyTutu, you need to follow this guide by @cmorgan. It'll help you out and covers all the essential mods. http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=8122

    EasyTutu is a program which updates Baldur's Gate using the Baldur's Gate Two engine. Useful, but alone it isn't enough. Remember, Tutu ALWAYS COMES FIRST. No mods before it. If you have SoA get the SoA version, if you have ToB as well get the other one.

    Read the entire page:

    If you want to use Baldur's Gate Trilogy then BWS is the best thing to use. That's why I recommend EasyTutu first but you decide. http://www.spellholdstudios.net/ie/bgt/

    I've tested a lot of mods and so if you are ever in any doubt with the ones you should use or NOT use, just ask. Some aren't worth bothering in them.

    If you need more help add Sir Prickface on Gameranger, I'll happily guide you through it. I wouldn't bother modding though since BG:EE is out soon.

    Wow thanks...wasnt expecting that quick of a response....Ive looked over the guide you attached...and after feeling slightly overwhelmed I think Im going to give it a shot, Im going to take some screenshots of my install procedure, and if I have any problems I can maybe post them on here...kind of like a newbs guide to install...Im saying this because im sure there are a lot of people like me who would love to play all the mods but just arent sure where to begin

    Someone may have mentioned above, Mods may conflict, the more mods you have at once, the more likely. Backing up the game before making alterations can help avoid having to re-install.

    Hi again, well 4-5 days later I seem to have managed a working install with quite a few mods, got another problem now though...starting the game everything seems fine, but as soon as gorion gets killed, and I get attacked by gibberlings...my frame per second drops horrendously low...4-5 frames and becomes unplayable....any suggestions?

    First of all let me say thanks to everybody who replied...second I have now installed quite a lot of mods using the suggested link by Ward and everything seems to work...so anybody reading this, follow his advice and youll get to play an even better version of the best game of all time.....one point that is worth mentioning is be very careful with which kits you add to NPC's, I just entered Neshkel to find out MIncs wa now a beast master ranger who could use his trusty two handed sword....after making Imoen an assasin!?!...kind of thinking of reinstalling, but am scared that the install process wont work again....any quick way to mod the mods?

    @Delta86

    Most all WeiDU mods can easily be changed, reinstalled or uninstalled with no hitches. Problem is you'll need to start a new game in many cases.

    In the case of your kits mod, you should be able to uninstall it, no worries. Just double click on the same installer again and it will ask if you want to uninstall your components.

    So far so good with easytutu, really enjoying it, thumbs up, am I right in assuming that I wont be able to take my party with me to SOA?...and also that most of the mods are to the BG1 part of the game?
  • WardWard Member Posts: 1,305
    @delta86

    You can't take your party with your to SoA, it'll be the same ol' Imoen, Minsc and that annoying elf.

    Any mods you install into your Baldur's Gate Tutu or Baldur's Gate directory will ONLY affect that game, none of them will touch your BG2 game unless you install them in that folder.

    The typical installation directories are, for BG1:

    C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate
    C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA

    If you use Tutu:

    C:\Program Files\BaldursGateTutu

    Or if you use the Good Old Games version:

    C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Baldur's Gate
    C:\Program Files\GOG.com\BGII - SoA
