Reaching maximum party size occasionally forces you to remove more characters than necessary

Observed behavior: Accepting a 6th npc (7th party member) forced me to remove "extra" characters

Expected behavior: You just have to remove the minimum amount required for a "legal" party.

I've only had this happen once, when talking to Xan in Mulahey's cave. Has normally worked fine.

    Looks like my post is a bit unclear, teaches me to post during lunch break.

    What I meant is that it forced me to cut down to 4 characters, not 7->6 but 7->4.

    Can you post more details, like is this single player game or multi-player game; and if single - what characters were in your party and who you were trying to add?

    - Single player game
    -Trying to add Xan via his initial dialogue at Mulahey's cave
    - in party at the time CHARNAME, Jaheira, Rasaad, Imoen, Neera and Dynaheir.

    I have a save from right after having this happen the first (and only) time, and simply talking to Xan and attempting to have him join again isn't enough to reproduce.
