Cheat Engine

Hey there Baldur's Gate community. I just wanted to let you cheaters out there that if you have an address editor, I use Cheat Engine, then to edit your ability points during character creation just the value type to "byte" on Cheat Engine! I would imagine the same data type works on other values throughout the game :)!

It took me a while to figure it out, thanks!

You might be interested in knowing that there's both an in-game console and several editors of varying complexity available with which you can alter nearly everything in the game to suit your preference.

With the console enabled, you can just press Ctrl+8 during character creation to get a maximum number of attribute points to assign.

or you could just use EE Keeper after creating your character and change whatever you want ;)

Hmm... aand - why would you change value type to byte? I was able to do that on standard 4-byte setting which gives me the impression that Byte should not work. And for other values like gold Byte will certainly not work.

@Shin @neosprit It's just a matter of what you are used to. Console might have been quicker if you know the commands. CheatEngine (or similar programs) is quicker than saving, editing the save in Keeper and loading in my case. Just the difference between multi-use tool you know and specialised tools you don't.

@Deltharis Of course, I didn't mean to suggest the op should switch things up by default. Still, sometimes the capacity to do a little bit of modding and tailoring of the game to one's taste can lead to a desire to be able to do even more - and then it's good to know that there are some very powerful and versatile tools available.
