Removing Dorn from the party but keeping him recruitable.

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I want to remove Dorn for awhile but I can not do so without him storming off.
Is there no way to do this?

    He gets angry when you boot him but you can find him back in his recruitment spot lurking in the shadow of holy temples.

    So he does, I somehow missed him the first time.
