Game starts up okay, but during initial character information viewing, it moves to not-responding state. Using task manager I can "bring it to the front" and proceed another few seconds (no set time) until it flips back to not-responding. I have manually installed, per internet game experts, vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe, both 2008, and re-installed OpenAL 2.0.7.0 oalinst.exe. I have run as admin, turned off all UAC, and re-installed Microsoft live movie maker as I saw in the event logger an error there. I have uninstalled the entire game, downloaded and installed it again from Steam. Still same problem. Boo, unknown to me at the time, misses me when I kill the application, which was so scary I went on a 3-hour multi-tool virus scanning frenzy.
Before I call it quits and get my money back, I shall try to get an answer here. thanks in advance. I am new to Baldur's gate and was quite anxious to play.
I am current on all drivers and OS.
