[MOD]: Spellcasting in light armor

AkuroAkuro Member Posts: 93
So you want your mage/thief to be able to wear a cool-looking dark armor and be able to cast powerful spells?
So do I!

Well, you just have to install my mod to your BG2 EE Edition and there you go: No more naked-spellcasting ;)
To do so, unzip the files from the "casting in light armor" zip-file into your "override" directory (found under "Data\00783\Override] - that's it.

Let me know if there are any bugs and enjoy!
Akuro

You can download the mod over there at Spellhold Studios:

mage/thieves can already cast in elven chain ^.^
but it's a neat idea (though superceded for me by Full Plate & Packing Steel)

How are you getting FP&PS to work for you? I've tried installing it alongside the new Weidu (236 or something), and it 'installs' correctly, but I see no changes to armor in-game (it's missing both the appended descriptions, and it doesn't confer any resistance to the wearer).

    I'm running BG2EE.

I put FP&PS at the end of my mod order and it works almost perfectly - the only discrepancy I noted is that the eponymous Full Plate itself is skipped over in the conversion. Almost ironic in a way =o

I started with the patched 1.2 version of BG2EE. My weidu version is also 23600. My weidu.log follows:

Right, but I've never liked the elven chain armor much. I've always wanted my mage/thief to wear the stylish shadow armor while casting spells.
After all, a misterious assassin is supposed to look like one, not like a frog, right? ;)

I often edit my armor by first extracting it via winbiff, editing with infinity engine editor, then saving the item into the override folder. I did this years ago and was pleased my archaic tools still work great. I typically remove the "set item color effects" and or switch the armor types to robes as I typically use the mage appearance. But I have also used it to remove the "disable mage spells" effect on shadow dragon scale.

I also turned Lilarcor into a long sword and made it enchanted to +5 so minsc could dual wield it through throne of bhaal. I found myself missing his voice lol
