Question about Barbarians.

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Since Barbarians get a max 20% resistance to piercing, slashing, blunt and missile damage, does this become worthless once you get the Aslyferund Elven Chain +5?

Aslyferund Elven Chain +5 - Grants complete immunity to all normal weapons

    Most enemies have magical weapons, especially by the point in the saga that you get the aslyferund chain. Damage resistances are still good against those, and arguably more important than AC by ToB.

    Whether or not that makes Barbarians worth using is another discussion entirely.

    Magical weapons (+1 or greater) still do slashing, blunt or piercing damage. The resistances are still useful even if not required against normal weapons while wearing that particular suit of armour. However, in ToB there are few enemies wielding such, most using +3 or more by that point so do not fear the Barbarian resistance would offer protection.

    Protection from Normal Weapons is practically worthless in ToB, since every enemy and their mother has a +3 Sword of Doom supplied by whoever they work for.

    Barbarian wielding Flails with Defender of Easthaven in off-hand: 20% Natural resistance, +20% from DoE, +40% from Hardiness HLA = 80% Physical resistance XD
